In my previous post, Joomla showing heavy growth in 2011, I noted that Joomla has been growing like a crazy with huge adoption number since the release of 1.6. Since then, it has reached 23.5 million downloads which is a crazy amount for a CMS and speaks volumes to it's popularity. This isn't the only milestone, however.
Joomla 1.6, for example has been downloaded over 1.7 million times since it's release and has seen an incredible adoption rate.Currently there are over 2000 government sites worldwide that use Joomla including NASA, the US Air Force and US Army.
The Joomla development team have also been working hard and have moved to a 6 month release cycle which means we can expect 1.7 to hit the shelves in around July of this year.
So far, 2011 is looking like a pretty darn good year for Joomla and we're only halfway through.
