Perhaps the most apparent feature users will feel the full force of, is the brand new caching system implemented by eZ Publish 5.2. Compared to the 4.x series of the platform, version 5.2 increases page load performance by an astonishing 400%.

This new found speed offered by eZ Publish 5.2 can be experienced consistently, right out of the box – even in highly personalized end user navigation contexts. This means that, when a logged-in customer enjoys a tailored online experience with your brand, he or she no longer exits after becoming frustrated with their deceptively slow digital journey. Thus, the chances of conversion are increased.
To enhance flexibility and accessibility of the eZ Publish platform, up to 62 languages are now covered, with integrated content translation capabilities for your in-house or external translation teams.

These new language capabilities, backed by eZ Publish 5.2's native multi-site support, make starting a new business, or even simply expanding your current one into a different part of the world, a far more practical process.
<h2>Symfony2, Stability, Commenting Systems &amp; More</h2>
Thanks to an upgraded and enhanced <a href="http://symfony.com/" target="_blank">Symfony2 framework</a> brought about by eZ Publish 5.2, the eZ Publish platform is now a more stable, efficient beast.

The Symfony2 framework has been upgraded to its improved 2.3 Long Term Support version, giving the core eZ Publish framework a heightened state of dependability. Additionally, this move opens up opportunities for eZ Publish customers to tap into a large base of talented developers, from both the eZ Publish and Symfony communities.

To top off these excellent stability enhancements, eZ Publish 5.2 also has something more social up its sleeve. Newly introduced third-party commenting services, including Facebook Comments and Disqus, offer your audience a recognizable space to engage, interact and discuss your content.
These third-party application integrations have been made possible thanks to the REST interface in eZ Publish 5.2 which lets you rise to the omnichannel/multichannel challenge, with an extensible, built-in content exposure system. In other words, handling content publication and curation from multiple device and channel types is now a piece of cake.

eZ Publish Platform 5.2 Released

Branded as their “biggest release in over a decade,” <a href="http://ez.no/" target="_blank">eZ Systems</a> has just unveiled new versions of both eZ Platform, their open-source product, and eZ Studio, their commercial product based on eZ Platform.
eZ software is trusted by the like of; The Financial Times, Harvard University, Elle, Hootsuite, and Orange.

Back in September, eZ Systems’ Director of Product Marketing, <a href="/ez-systems-set-to-launch-ez-platform-and-ez-studio/" target="_blank">guest posted here on CMS Critic to give us a sneak peek at both of these updates</a>. He stated that they, “[signified] a leap forward” for eZ Systems as a company.
We also recently enjoyed a featured week with eZ Systems, where I personally got to <a href="/search/?q=ez+publish&amp;sort=-date" target="_blank">explore some of the core features of the company's flagship CMS, eZ Platform</a>, including <a href="/managing-multiple-sites-channels-languages-with-ez-publish/" target="_blank">multi-site management</a> and <a href="/ez-publish-platform-content-management-marketing-ecommerce-under-the-same-roof/" target="_blank">eCommerce</a>.
Here's an overview of what's new.
<h2>Right Content, Right Channel, Right Time</h2>
<a href="http://ezplatform.com/" target="_blank">eZ Platform</a> is the open-source core for developers, while <a href="http://ezstudio.com/" target="_blank">eZ Studio</a> is the fully integrated set of tools for editors and marketers.
According to the eZ team, their aim with this broad update is to ensure that brands get the right content flows into the right channels at the right times, whether on desktops, tablets, phones or the Internet of Things (IoT).

eZ’s software also allows organizations to manage multiple sites or apps from a single, secure platform, and deliver their content in different languages to engage local audiences.
<h2>eZ Platform: Content-centric Websites &amp; Applications</h2>
The core of eZ’s new solutions, eZ Platform is an open source software that provides developers a Web framework, rich APIs and a structured content repository for building websites and apps.
This update brings about a fully redesigned user interface to manage the repository. Like its predecessor eZ Platform 5.x, eZ Platform is based on the <a href="http://ez.no/Blog/Exploring-the-Symfony2-Full-Stack-Approach-of-eZ-Platform">Symfony full-stack framework</a>, the leading PHP framework today.

<h2>eZ Studio: Content Management Simplified</h2>
eZ Studio is the commercial solution based on eZ Platform.
This premium offering now serves up additional, fully integrated features that allow editors and marketers to better manage a website or app built with eZ Platform. Those features include; in-page preview and editing, easy-to-use tools for managing complex landing pages (such as drag-and-drop blocks), automated content scheduling and customizable workflows.

According to Aleksander Farstad, eZ Systems' CEO and Co-Founder, brands making use of eZ Studio are about to experience vast improvements:

eZ Launches New Content Management Solutions, eZ Platform & eZ Studio

eZ Systems announced the release of a new version of eZ Platform, its easy-to-use, developer and editor friendly digital platform. This new, much-awaited, version (2.5) is the long term supported release (LTS) for the version 2 innovation cycle that reaches its final point. It is full-featured and ready for Customers to launch and build their digital experiences.
It provides all the novelties that were introduced in version 2 development, especially:
<ul>
<li>The new, easy-to-use Page Builder, providing best-in-class editorial experience and unequaled automation capabilities. Unlike other site and page builders, eZ Platform’s new component is designed to be simply and sustainably extended and customized by enterprises for their own needs.</li>
<li>Its direct companion, the Form Builder, will allow organizations to capture information from their audience in an efficient and controlled way while respecting privacy requirements and providing developers with all means to customize the interactions with the end-users.</li>
<li>The re-designed Workflow engine builds on top of the content platform which finally lets organizations define and enforce complex editorial business processes while ensuring a straightforward and streamlined user experience for both editors and administrators.</li>
</ul>
As is always the case with eZ Systems software, a substantial effort has been made to ensure that the platform is first and foremost a productive, efficient and innovative technical solution for developers and designers to customize and extend quickly to meet the needs of each specific business need. For that,  it embraces the PHP Symfony framework more closely than ever, offering the most complete Symfony CMS solution on the market place. The platform has also been designed having in mind eZ Platform and eZ Publish prior users, ensuring there is a clear and quick path for them to upgrade their projects from either eZ Publish or eZ Platform version 1 to version 2.
Together with this v2.5 release comes a list of smaller yet crucial improvements for developers such as:

<li>Stable, full-featured GraphQL API allowing developers to implement headless content management projects with speed and ease of use, eliminating the limitation of the RESTful APIs.</li>
<li>The foundation for supporting different database systems starting with PostgreSQL that is now fully supported, in addition to MySQL and MariaDB.</li>
<li>The introduction of the Webpack Encore web asset delivery system that will simplify and further improve the management of CSS, javascript, icons and other web assets.</li>
</ul>
