All open source news is good news, right? Well, SiteSupra, the website builder and CMS designed for building small responsive websites, has just launched an open source edition.
SiteSupra Open Source Edition is a PHP-based free, GPL-licensed CMS that is available to download from <a href="http://www.sitesupra.org/" target="_blank">www.sitesupra.org</a> via GitHub. The product contributes to a hosted version of the product available under the same name at <a href="http://www.sitesupra.com/" target="_blank">www.sitesupra.com</a>. <h2>An “Elegant” CMS</h2>
According to the official announcement, “SiteSupra Open Source Edition, which was released today, brings a new dimension to the web development market, as a product that comprises an elegant CMS and a powerful web development framework.”
SiteSupra has designed a unique visual drag-and-drop interface, which allows website editors to easily complete sophisticated website management tasks without any coding skills.
The drag-and-drop interface includes page widgets, a site map, file storage, and the intuitive access and use of various internal applications. SiteSupra have dubbed it one of the most “comprehensive” drag-and-drop interfaces on the market.
Anton Sulsky, the CEO of SiteSupra, made these comments upon the announcement:
<blockquote>“Over ten years we tried to develop a sophisticated CMS, which is extremely powerful as a development framework and extremely easy to use as a website management tool. We are excited that our work is now released in open source. We hope it will allow developers to build sites fast, and win more clients because of the elegant CMS they will love.”</blockquote>
Eugene Kharkov, SiteSupra’s CTO, added the following statement:
<blockquote>“We welcome feedback and contributions from developers. We are working to enrich the product with widgets and modules, and so we need developers’ views on required components, and also their help in improving the product further.”</blockquote>

SiteSupra CMS Launches Open Source Edition

<a href="http://www.sitesupra.com/" target="_blank"> SiteSupra</a> has released some new updates, in the form of three new themes and a new page deactivation feature.
Although technically still in beta, SiteSupra is a hosted website builder and CMS which gives you the tools to create good-looking, responsive websites.
SiteSupra's headquarters lie in Latvia, and users can choose between free and premium plans to build their websites. To learn more about what the platform can do, check out my recent <a href="/sitesupra-review/" target="_blank"> SiteSupra Review</a>.
<h2>Steady Improvement</h2>
Publicly launched at the beginning of 2014, SiteSupra is still a growing platform.
Despite my overall enjoyment of using SiteSupra during my review, there were some issues I pointed out. A slight lack of templates was amongst those issues, and SiteSupra team has clearly been working on this.
Three new templates have been released; Drava, Taillia, and Aira.

All three look great and work well, much like the previous seven SiteSupra templates.
Furthermore, SiteSupra users can now deactivate pages quickly in the SiteMap. This feature was brought in to make it easier to remove demo pages quickly, without having to preview them first.

SiteSupra Introduces New Templates & Features

Since launching its public beta in early 2014, <a href="http://www.sitesupra.com/" target="_blank">SiteSupra</a>, a newly open-sourced website builder, has come a long way.
I initially <a href="/sitesupra-review/" target="_blank">reviewed SiteSupra</a> a few months after its release, but since then, the platform has <a href="/sitesupra-introduces-new-themes-features/" target="_blank">released a slew of new features</a> and has even <a href="/sitesupra-cms-launches-open-source-edition/" target="_blank">gone open source</a> in order to ignite interest. All positive moves ahead of the advancement from public beta.

Seeing a developing, open-source project make advancements like this is always good to see as far as I'm concerned.

SiteSupra offers up three subscription options: the Standard package costs $4.99 for 2GB of space and 5GB traffic. The Business package includes e-commerce, unlimited traffic and unlimited space, at the price of $12.99. The advanced free plan is available with 50MB of space, 500MB traffic, and 20 entirely customizable pages.
