Adobe announces Adobe® CQ 5.5 Social Communities, providing digital marketers with the ability to better leverage social engagement across owned digital properties to build loyalty and drive conversion. Part of the Adobe Web Experience Management solution, CQ Social Communities enables organizations to build deeper relationships with and between customers by connecting context from leading social networks to multiple marketing channels, including company websites, mobiles sites and applications.

Now, digital marketers need to go further. With new social plugins in CQ Social Communities, including the “Like” button and activity feeds, marketers can strengthen the connection between their digital properties and social networks by allowing customers to share content with friends. Organizations can also provide consumers socially relevant information on the company’s website—for example, which friends purchased a product—while amplifying their presence back to the social network.
<blockquote>
“As part of marketing efforts to promote our male-grooming product line, Adobe Web Experience Management has helped us better engage consumers, foster online lifestyle communities, and bring our brand to life through customers’ experiences,” said Joost van Dun, IT business specialist for Web, Philips. “Ultimately, our goal is foster a strong relationship with customers, and the ability to provide them a socially aware and interactive experience on our website is a critical part of the equation. The new capabilities in Adobe CQ Social Communities enabling consumers to share information about themselves help us deliver on that promise.”
</blockquote>
Part of Adobe Web Experience Management, CQ 5.5 Social Communities builds on existing capabilities for developing and managing blogs, forums, comments, and ratings, as well as connecting to social networks, across all aspects of an organization’s digital presence.

You are a marketing machine. You have worked hard to build a huge email list. You carefully craft each email newsletter campaign you send out. Something is wrong. Your open rate is poor. Ok lets be honest, its so poor you are wondering if you have been flagged as spam! Here comes the question: “What can I do about it?”
Let's assume that you are NOT sending out spam and therefore have not been flagged as such. You may just need to extend your reach a little past email to bring attention to your beautifully crafted newsletters. The solution could be a service like Call Loop.
<blockquote>
“Call loop announces that they have designed and developed a new way for any person marketing to an email list to get the chance to have increased response rates. Marketing studies have been performed for email open rates and the data currently shows that less than 20 percent of emails are opened. Large mailing lists are one of the tools that some companies and marketers use as a way to build annual income. Call Loop has now developed a way to tie in existing autoresponder email blasts with voice and text messaging to help increase the overall open response rate. This service is designed with affordability in mind and the cost of a single text message or voice message is currently 5 cents to help marketers of any size to reduce mailing list marketing budgets.”
</blockquote>
Yes, Call Loop integrates your already present email marketing system and extends it to text and voice messaging. Sounds like this could be a lot to keep up with right? Actually it is surprisingly simple as this 60 second video from Call Loop's website shows.
Sometimes a little reminder can help when maybe some get in the habit of not reading your email newsletters. At times people get busy and feel they do not have time to peruse their subscribed to newsletters. A service like Call Loop sends a little text or voice reminder that the email you recently sent out has a coupon for free coffee! Use these tools wisely and watch your open rate explode.

Real Magnet announces the launch of Social Magnet, a new channel integrated into its award-winning platform which fully integrates the composition, distribution and tracking of social messages alongside email and mobile. The Real Magnet application provides data on clicks, conversions and other engagement metrics by message and by channel.
<blockquote>
“In marketing, nothing is more powerful than knowledge,” said Tom Pines, Real Magnet’s CEO. “We integrated social functionality fully into the Real Magnet application so that marketers can compare quickly how much interaction each message in each channel is driving.” The application uses a proprietary URL shortener (compatible with branded shortened URLs) to append data for tracking purposes, allowing marketers to view clicks, retweets, likes, comments and even conversions across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and the inbox. “Much more than just a dashboard to view your social feeds and send messages, Real Magnet is fully integrated, giving marketers the same insight and accountability into their social channels that they have long enjoyed for email,” stated Pines.
</blockquote>
Real Magnet’s Director of Insights, Mike May, is responsible for educating marketers on how to use the powerful cross-channel comparative data the Real Magnet application provides. “On the one hand, simply funneling all your messaging through the Real Magnet application lets marketers see exactly how much productivity each campaign is getting out of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and email,” stated May. “But we also know that messages perform differently in each channel, which allows marketers to tailor content for the channels where it drives the most results. This lowers the signal-to-noise ratio, helping every message become more targeted and relevant, lifting results across all channels.”
Social Magnet is now available to marketers using the Real Magnet application, and is integrated fully with the platform’s composition, distribution and tracking functionality. Perforce Software announced today the availability of Perforce Chronicle, the company’s new Web Content Management System (WCMS), introducing powerful new capabilities for website development and management. By combining enterprise-class version management with a user-friendly WYSIWYG editor, Perforce Chronicle significantly improves web team collaboration, productivity and accuracy.
<blockquote>
“Web content management systems must enable greater business agility,” said Mick MacComascaigh, Research VP, Gartner Inc. “They must empower the business professionals responsible for website effectiveness to play a more active role in producing the ever-increasing volume of content. The ability to extend the pool of site contributors without complicating workflows or compromising the consistency or accuracy of the site will be a leading consideration in the WCMS market.”
</blockquote>
A Versioning-Driven Approach
Chronicle’s versioning technology makes web managers more productive by helping them manage the constant flow of website change—site functionality, workflows, content, new projects and teams, permissions, site configurations and more. Chronicle automates many of the formerly time-consuming manual tasks associated with moving content from development to staging to production, and raises productivity by enabling parallel site updates without conflict.
<blockquote>
“Despite the many WCM solutions on the market, costly collaboration and deployment challenges have persisted,” said Dr. Sunit Gala, CEO of Blisstering Solutions, a leading provider of content management solutions and services. “Perforce was the first to recognize that these collaboration and site management issues are directly solved through version control, an area in which the company has significant expertise. With its new Chronicle product, Perforce has delivered a solution that not only raises productivity and promotes teamwork, but also eliminates common systemic and human errors resulting from inadequate version management.”
</blockquote>
 Fewer Website Errors and Inconsistencies
Chronicle significantly reduces errors by providing the ability to compare and deploy web pages and content. This improves accuracy and site-wide consistency, and enables web managers to confidently extend branches of the site to additional contributors. Chronicle also meets corporate requirements for compliance by protecting and automatically backing up site content.
Chronicle Features:
<ul>
<li>Create New Environments Easily: Create an unlimited number of development, test, and staging areas for any contributors, projects or teams.</li>
<li>Streamlined Workflow: Customizable workflow allows users to configure steps of approval for publishing content. Assign custom workflows by page type, project or team.</li>
<li>Accurate Content Merge: Chronicle makes it simple to reconcile changes back into live site content, error-free.</li>
<li>Compare Versions at a Glance: A powerful compare feature lets users see the differences between versions of content in three different modes: HTML source, side-by-side and overlay view.</li>
<li>Schedule Updates: Roll forward or backward any scheduled updates and announcements, user access, or other administrative functions.</li>
<li>In-Place Editing: Edit with a full-featured WYSYIWYG editor, in context and inline.</li>
<li>Roles and Access Control: Granular control over access to various operations within the WCMS, including assigning required roles to workflow steps.</li>
<li>Add Modules: A full complement of plug-ins and extensions using the familiar ORM-like development model of Perforce Records.</li>
</ul>
Benefits of Chronicle:
<ul>
<li>Higher Productivity: It’s easy to create new environments for staging and development quickly and without error. Moving content from staging to production is faster than ever.</li>
<li>Fewer Website Errors: Merge new content with the live site without mistakes.</li>
<li>Collaboration without Conflict: Chronicle makes it easy to add new contributors and teams—for both internal and external staff—without creating content chaos.</li>
<li>Greater Compliance, Fewer Uncertainties: Well-defined workflows with accountable approval stages and rollback abilities to document compliance.</li>
</ul>
“Web teams are hindered by time-consuming staging and deployment processes and errors that result from the having to keep track of content iterations on dev, staging and live environments,” said Furkhan Khan, Director of Product Marketing for Perforce Software. “We’re able to address these issues by taking a versioning-first approach. We have a rich history of solving collaboration problems for global software development teams and now we’re bringing our expertise in this area to web teams.”

New WCM Tackles Workflow and Collaboration Frustrations with Versioning Technology

This new release of ExpressionEngine features a new Rich Text Editor field type, a Rich Text Editor Module to allow use of the editor on the front end, and a Cookie Consent Module designed to help European Union (EU) users comply with privacy laws impacting cookie use. In addition to a number of new features, this release improves XSS filtering and redirect behavior. For developers there are a number of new hooks and improvements, and everyone will benefit from the stability improvements provided by over 50 bug fixes.
The new Rich Text Editor provides a native way to add very lightweight ‘what you see is what you get’ (WYSIWYG) fields to the publish page. This allows content editors to work directly with rich text elements in their written content— elements like bold and italicized text, block quotes, and links— without being subjected to the HTML markup underneath. Toolsets, which consist of the various buttons that can be included in the editor, are customizable and may be saved on a per member basis. The editor can also be added to textarea fields on the frontend by using the RTE Module, which allows WYSIWYG capabilities in SafeCracker and Comments. The new editor is also developer friendly, and new buttons may be easily created using the Button API.
Another new module is the Cookie Consent Module, which was designed to help EU users meet the demands of privacy laws that prohibit setting cookies without prior consent from end users. The module prevents setting cookies using ExpressionEngine’s native cookie setting function unless consent has been granted. The module also provides means of conditionally display data based on consent status, and mechanisms for gaining such consent. See the documentation for more details.
Developers will benefit from a number of additions in this release. In addition to the developer friendly new editor, several new hooks have been added.

dotCMS, an open source, Java-based web content management system, is pleased to announce the release of v2.0. This latest release continues dotCMS’s pursuit of providing one the most scalable, powerful and easy-to-use web content management platforms in the marketplace today. No spin or catchy titles, just good, meaningful tools and functionality for both commercial-grade and multi-tenant content driven web applications.
“dotCMS 2.0 is our response to the on-the-ground, real needs of both business users and developers,” announced Will Ezell, CTO of dotCMS. “We have exciting plans for the 2 series, which will continue to rapidly improve upon our already robust enterprise content platform”.
Features and Improvements for Business Users:
<ul>
<li>New Customizable/Extendable Workflow Engine The new workflow engine in dotCMS 2.0 allows the creation of multiple, multi-level workflow schemes for content and files. Workflow actions can trigger customizable sub-actions. For example, posting a value of a content field to a twitter account on publish -or- adding/removing a document/piece of content to a SOLR indexing server. Additionally, different content types can have completely different workflow schemes — all manageable through the easy to use dotCMS UI.</li>
<li>Files as Content Files and Document types can be created in the UI and administrators can be customize fields, properties and relationships on a per file type basis. The beauty of “Files as Content” is that these files are still URL addressable binary files with all the benefits of being content. This allows CDN friendly pathing to files and image manipulation with no query strings. Additionally, with HTML 5, we have greatly improved multi-file uploads.</li>
<li>Full-Text Document and Metadata Indexing In dotCMS 2.0, all metadata and content is extracted from documents and files. dotCMS makes this information searchable, including full-text indexing of all MSOffice documents. This allows for robust document management solutions to be created using the out of the box tools in dotCMS platform.</li>
<li>Content Editing UI improvements and Pessimistic Content Check-in / Checkout Workflows and content locking are integrated into an improved content editing UI. Now content can be truly locked for editing – only the editing user or CMS Administrators can release the lock.</li>
<li>Key/Value Field Type Allows a content type to have an unlimited number of values that can be determined when the content is being entered. For example, this becomes very useful for a specifications page for various electronic products in an ecommerce environment.</li>
</ul>
Features and Improvements for Developers and Administrators:
<ul>
<li>ElasticSearch for performance and horizontal scalability Hugely scalable content index that includes auto-replication and auto data-sharing. This infrastructure allows for content to be indexed once, available everywhere in clustered installations. ElasticSearch can also scale independently from your dotCMS installation based on an implementation’s needs. And to improve management of multiple environments, indices can be backed up using a restful interface and restored across instances/ environments.</li>
<li>Data Model/API Improvements dotCMS continues to improve under the covers as the data model enforces content rules and maintains data integrity without loss of flexibility.</li>
<li>OSGI Implemented (BETA) dotCMS 2.0 includes the start of a new architecture for extending and developing in dotCMS by providing an OSGI interface for the hot deployment of custom java functionality. Currently the OSGI package manager allows administrators to deploy Velocity Viewtools, and workflow Actionlets (Custom Workflow Actions) and other OSGI packages via OSGI, without needing a server restart.</li>
<li>Spring 3 MVC Support Spring MVC remains one of the most used Java web application frameworks and now, dotCMS 2.0 ships with a Spring 3 View and View Resolver. This allows that developers looking to implement controller logic in their CMS or content driven apps can use Spring MVC to implement their functionality in dotCMS</li>
<li>Logging Improvements Never to underestimate the importance of seemingly small improvements — the new Velocity Logging feature gives site developers a stack-trace that greatly speeds the debugging of hard to find velocity errors.</li>
</ul>
