The latest release of the ever popular <a href="http://www.wordpress.org">WordPress</a> is now out. Version 3.3 brings with it the following changes:

Experienced users will appreciate the new drag-and-drop uploader, hover menus for the navigation, the new toolbar, improved co-editing support, and the new Tumblr importer. We’ve also been thinking a ton about what the WordPress experience is like for people completely new to the software. Version 3.3 has significant improvements there with pointer tips for new features included in each update, a friendly welcome message for first-time users, and revamped help tabs throughout the interface. Finally we’ve improved the dashboard experience on the iPad and other tablets with better touch support.

There is a ton of candy for developers as well. I’d recommend starting your exploration with the new editor API, new jQuery version, better ways to hook into the help screens, more performant post-slug-only permalinks, and of course the entire list of improvements on the Codex and in Trac.

A new maintenance release of Drupal has been made available. Version 7.10 was released yesterday and aims to resolve several major bugs, including one causing errors with the 5.x branch of Drush, have been fixed this release. Bitrix has announced the release of Bitrix Intranet Version 11.0 (www.bitrixsoft.com/intranet/). This new product version includes such important enhancements as: extended CRM and Time Management, complete Task Management tools, Report Wizard, Activity Stream, comprehensive set of tools for Meetings, mobile version of the Intranet, and over 80 other additions, and improvements made throughout the product.

<li>Document Library module now has more flexible access rights for files and folders, the “Like” button, and a Mozilla Firefox plugin for direct document editing.</li>

Using Relationship Management to Understand Efficiency

There is a new release of Contensis' Content Management available that brings with it a number of additional modules / extensions as well as some solid productivity tweaks.
Here is a breakdown of some of the new changes / additions:

<li>The newly released Social Media module for instance, allows users to roll out Tweeting internally while also allowing the Tweets to be vetted before they go out. This is only the first version of this module but they are also promising future updates to include Google Plus and Facebook functionality.</li>
<li>The addition of post rating and comment reporting has also been introduced in this version and, while a small change, it certainly is a welcome one.</li>
<li>The integrated JW Player has been upgrade to allow for HTML 5 fallback if a device cannot support flash.</li>

From productivity point of view, the following is a sample of some of the tweaks that have been made:

<li>Submit and approve as part of document upload.</li>
<li>Global default setting on “include in menu”, “a-z”, “search” and “sitemap”.</li>
<li>Improved menu management screen – click and drag.</li>
<li>Re-worded and better ordered context menu items.</li>
<li>Add a message on “submit for approval”.</li>
<li>Re-synchronise a folder at any level in both the master and slave trees.</li>
<li>Hover-over tooltip on navigation tree items now gives information about who has the item checked out.</li>
<li>Moved the project title to be more visible and is better associated with the navigation tree. This creates more space in the nav tree to allow for additional items to be visible.</li>
<li>If content is checked out a user can select “email me when this is checked in”.</li>
<li>Made some minor adjustments to the dashboard to make things clearer – see if you can spot them.</li>
<li>New “Quick Search” addition to the top bar to more easily navigate to content.</li>
</ul>
