HP has acquired full control of <a href="http://www.autonomy.com/content/News/Releases/2011/1003.en.html">Autonomy Corporation</a>, one of the largest and most successful enterprise information management companies in the industry. Autonomy's software offerings power more than 25,000 customer accounts worldwide and, as part of HP, will provide high-value business solutions to help customers manage the explosion of unstructured and structured information.
<blockquote>
“This is a historic day for Autonomy, our employees and the customers we serve, as we combine HP's phenomenal assets and Autonomy's specialized skills to produce systems that handle all the information in the enterprise, regardless of the format it is in,”said Lynch. “We are at the dawn of a new era when it is the ‘I' in IT that is changing, not just the ‘T.'”
</blockquote>
Autonomy will operate as a separate business unit. Dr. Mike Lynch, the founder and chief executive officer of Autonomy, will continue to lead the Autonomy business and will report to Whitman.
This acquisition by HP positions them well in the marketplace and lends credence to the sustainable success of the ever expanding content management market in the midst of poor economic conditions worldwide. More and more enterprise companies are looking to this market for growth opportunities and this is just another example of how well this market has been doing of late.

GSX Solutions announced that its GSX Monitor &amp; Analyzer resolves significant Microsoft SharePoint risks and issues for IT departments. Agentless, out-of-the-box deployment on a client workstation enables SharePoint administrators to continually monitor services from a user perspective and quickly take corrective action when issues arrive.
Many organizations are experiencing an uncontrolled proliferation of SharePoint sites, leading to frequent outages and inefficient use of IT resources. GSX Monitor leverages GSX’s 15 years of experience in messaging and collaboration to help rein in the potential issues and enhance efficiency by:
<ul>
<li>Providing out-of-the-box deployment on a client workstation (no code is installed on the server).</li>

<li>Monitoring through customized background scenarios that probe key SharePoint parameters.</li>
<li>Consolidating control over the proliferation of SharePoint servers within an organization, highlighting those that need immediate attention, and notifying administrators to take corrective action.</li>
<li>Enabling administrators to drill-down to the root causes of problems and take effective remedial action.</li>
<li>Cutting costs through preemptive resolution of emerging issues.</li>
<li>Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to help service providers avoid financial penalties from failure to meet service level agreement (SLA) requirements.</li>

<li>Providing an integrated view of the entire collaboration environment, including Microsoft Exchange and BlackBerry Enterprise Server.</li>
<li>Integrating with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).</li>
</ul>
<blockquote>
“Microsoft SharePoint collaboration and information management has become a mission-critical platform for many organizations. However, its rapid embrace has led to significant risks, that our new release of GSX Monitor &amp; Analyzer effectively resolves,” said Antoine Leboyer, CEO of GSX Solutions. “By continually monitoring system performance from both the user’s and administrator’s perspective, we effectively empower our customers to avoid these pitfalls, reduce their operational costs, and maximize the value of their SharePoint investment.”

The <a href="http://impresscms.org">ImpressCMS</a> team have announced the release of ImpressCMS 1.3, the community-oriented web platform. ImpressCMS is a web content management platform with a focus on community.
The goals defined for the newest version of ImpressCMS were clear : complete overhaul of the core to improve speed, improve efficiency and improve the architecture. No new functionalities were planned.
With the release of ImpressCMS 1.3, all these goals were met, with pre-production sites showing remarkable improvements in speed and memory use. Also, the totally refactored ImpressCMS Persistable Framework will make core and module development considerably easier.
What's new in ImpressCMS 1.3:
<ul>
<li>Speed improvements</li>
<li>Drastically lowered memory requirements</li>
<li>Fully PHP 5.3 compatible</li>
<li>Facilitated module development</li>
<li>Updated versions of many modules</li>
</ul>
Faster &amp; Lower Memory requirements
The refactoring in the ImpressCMS 1.3 release has resulted in major improvements: less memory use, speedier page loads and less SQL queries per page, making it the fastest and nimblest ImpressCMS to date.
Fully PHP 5.3 compatible
The structure of the code has seen a major overhaul, in order to comply with the current best practices for PHP5. This makes the code easier to write, and easier to maintain.
Facilitated module development
By using the automatic inclusion of required files, module developers can think about improving their module, and not about handling file administration.
Module updates
Many modules have received compatibility updates to work with this release. Other modules have been written specifically to take advantage of the improved codebase of version 1.3.

Dries recently gave a presentation regarding the state of Drupal and has just made the video of this talk available for the public.
<blockquote>
My presentation was based on the results of the <a href="http://buytaert.net/state-of-drupal-2011-survey">State of Drupal survey</a>, which got over 3,000 responses from people all over the world. Because I didn't have time to talk about all the survey questions in my keynote, I've decided to make <a href="http://buytaert.net/files/state-of-drupal-survey-2011-summary.pdf">a summary of all the survey results</a> (PDF, 160 KB) available as well. It gives a more complete view on the survey results.

Onxshop, a CMS and e-commerce package created for web developers, is now available for free download following its open source launch.
The newly released Onxshop CMS provides one of the simplest options currently available on the web for combining traditional content management and an eCommerce store.
It was made available for free download last month after almost a decade of use on the web projects of its creator Norbert Laposa, of Belfast-based Laposa Web Solutions.
The platform has been operating since 2002. In that time it has processed more than 50,000 e-commerce transactions worth £1.5 million.
Norbert explained: “The product is stable and has been functioning successfully for several years. It continues to be in active development and I will be providing regular updates.
“Onxshop uses state of the art web design principles, such as Fibonacci based layout, semantic HTML and CSS, and progressive enhancement.”
The platform aims to provide a framework that web professionals can put their own design stamp upon, but also a common-sense system for end users.
While experts can easily alter the CSS to create their own designs, at its simplest level the system offers a series of professional multi-column layouts and content building blocks for easy insertion of rich text, photo galleries, HTML and much more.
The Onxshop system is already in use on around 40 business websites and other sites, including the Waitrose HTML and CSS templates, were built using Onxshop.
JING Tea, another retailer currently using Onxshop, won Google’s Best of British Web competition last week for its use of the system.
Norbert is now eager for other developers who find Onxshop useful to contribute to the source code.
He added: “We are a small company, so it's a very good opportunity for others to jump on the wagon. We’re not a big corporation. People can deal directly with me, the main developer, and get support from me.
“We want to listen to what people think about the system and make any changes that are going to improve Onxshop as an open source CMS.”
Try Onxshop for yourself by downloading it from <a href="http://onxshop.com/download">http://onxshop.com/download</a> or try the online demo at <a href="http://onxshop.com/demo">http://onxshop.com/demo</a>.

SilverStripe Ltd. is due to release <a href="http://silverstripe.org/roadmap/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">SilverStripe CMS 3.0</a> in alpha in October and beta before Christmas. The biggest change to the current content management system will be the separation of the SilverStripe Framework as it’s own entity. The framework as a stable basis, formerly known as ‘Sapphire’, enables the developer to build more than just traditional websites but applications for any device and any purpose.
CMS 3.0 promises an improved user interface, a better technical platform and will embrace social media and mobile web applications
Product Marketing Manager Kerstin Schuman says that SilverStripe Ltd. is proud to give the framework a status of it’s own; it is a great tool to build anything a developer wants. The framework will now become a standalone member of the SilverStripe Suite, becoming downloadable as a separate development tool. The SilverStripe Suite comprises of the SilverStripe CMS, SilverStripe Framework, SilverStripe Site Monitor and supported SilverStripe modules.
Schuman says the release of the framework gives SilverStripe the opportunity to reach a new group of people who need more than just a CMS in order to build creative new web applications.
These changes mean that the SilverStripe site performance measuring tool, previously known as Dawn, will be renamed to SilverStripe Site Monitor.

SilverStripe separates their Framework from the CMS

A new maintenance release of Drupal has been made available. This version (7.8) offers only bug fixes with the primary fix being <a href="http://drupal.org/node/1164852">#1164852: (regression) Node bodies display as empty after upgrade to 7.7 from 6.x if the nodes have a language</a>.
For those who are currently running earlier versions, upgrading is highly recommended in order to take advantage of this and other fixes.
