The Dependency Manager ensures that hyperlinks to pages that are managed within OU Campus are always up to date. If a page is deleted, thereby causing broken hyperlinks, the user is notified to take action on those pages.
The Dependency Manager is particularly important for a higher education website, which may have thousands of web pages written by hundreds of authors. Due to dispersed job locations and vastly different work responsibilities, web content authors may not know each other or be aware of changes made to site content. Because of this, broken links are easy to create. The Dependency Manager fixes them before they are published.

Nuxeo Announces New Version of Case Management Framework

A new version of Textpattern CMS has been released. Version 4.4.1 takes care of a security vulnerability that was present in previous versions so upgrading is highly recommended.

All versions prior to TXP 4.4.1 were open to CSRF attacks; pronounced sea-surf. While it’s out of scope in this article to discuss what makes up such an attack, it generally works by tricking a logged-in user into clicking something (e.g. an <code>&lt;img&gt;</code> tag which isn’t an actual image). This link secretly accesses something on the admin side using the current logged-in user’s credentials and performs some action — submits an article, deletes something, whatever. If the user in question is an admin, the potential for damage is high.
To combat this, we now use unique tokens passed in each admin-side form and AJAX request to ensure that the request originated on the admin side from the correct form. Any jiggery pokery results in failure for the attacker and a typically TXPish message.
This release also introduces a new security privilege <code>image.create.trusted</code> which prohibits untrusted users from uploading SWF images to the Images tab.

With this new connector, internal business content can be communicated via a website or portal without taking it out of its managed lifecycle. This eliminates the need to duplicate the information, and maintains the content history, validation workflow, versioning, and associated metadata.

Jahia Launches Jahia 6.5 the Next-Generation Enterprise CMS

In my previous post, <a rel="bookmark" href="../joomla-showing-heavy-growth-in-2011/">Joomla showing heavy growth in 2011,</a> I noted that Joomla has been growing like a crazy with huge adoption number since the release of 1.6.  Since then, it has reached 23.5 million downloads which is a crazy amount for a CMS and speaks volumes to it's popularity. This isn't the only milestone, however.
Joomla 1.6, for example has been downloaded over 1.7 million times since it's release and has seen an incredible adoption rate.Currently there are over 2000 government sites worldwide that use Joomla  including NASA, the US Air Force and US Army.
The Joomla development team have also been working hard and have moved to a 6 month release cycle which means we can expect 1.7 to hit the shelves in around July of this year.
So far, 2011 is looking like a pretty darn good year for <a href="http://joomla.org">Joomla</a> and we're only halfway through.

Nuxeo Document Management Now Offers Digital Signature Option

SaaS content management system (CMS) Granite Horizon In The Cloud now provides enhanced mobile features and a new search engine (SEO) optimization tool.
In The Cloud (ITC) subscribers now can easily deploy mobile apps to make use of their content in ways optimized for iPhone, iPad, and other mobile devices. Thanks to its new application programming interface (API), the wealth of information stored in the CMS can easily be consumed in attractive apps.

A “canonical link” feature was introduced today as well. The CMS allows content to appear in multiple locations (for example, on the mobile version of the site as well as the main version). “Top search engines look for a special tag to indicate which page is the main location for a content page which appears in multiple places,” explained McAvoy-Jensen. “The search engine then indexes only the main page, thereby eliminating the risk of being identified as duplicating content.”
Other features deployed today include an enhancement to the editorial interface and an improvement to the workflow system. StorageRoom is a new cloud-based CMS that serves content to mobile applications on multiple platforms. Native mobile applications require content in raw formats such as XML or JSON, while current Content Management Systems are focused on taking content and serving it as unstructured HTML – and offer no or only bad APIs. Many applications contain content such as news, announcements, scores, events or help sections, but keeping the content up to date without releasing a new version requires a central online content repository.

The next major release of Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware is now available — Tiki 7. In addition to more than 200 miscellaneous fixes and code improvements, Tiki 7 boasts several eagerly awaited new features:

The release of Tiki 7 also means that Tiki 6 become the LTS (Long Term Support) version and that development on Tiki 3.x officially ends. Although Tiki 7 is available immediately for early adopters, many site administrators may elect to wait until 7.1.
