The first alpha release of the upcoming Typo3 4.6 has been made available to the public. Typo3 CMS 4.6 is due to be released in stable around October, 2011 so if you are interested in assisting them with meeting this target, please download and test this alpha and provide your feedback and bug reports.
This alpha release incorporates the following changes from 4.5:
<ul>
<li>PHP 5.3: PHP 5.3.0 is available since nearly two years and is now included in all stable releases of major web server package repositories. As such, PHP 5.3.0 or above is now mandatory.</li>
<li>Safe mode: Although still supported by PHP 5.3 (but deprecated), safe mode is not supported anymore.</li>
<li>IE6: Internet Explorer 6 is not supported anymore for the TYPO3 backend. This means that the community will not care anymore if some functionality is not working or not displayed as it should when using IE6. If you are forced to use this obsolete browser, you should not use TYPO3 4.6 but keep using 4.5 LTS instead. Of course, TYPO3 still lets you targeting the frontend part at IE6.</li>
<li>ImageMagick: Support for ImageMagick v4 and v5 has been dropped. ImageMagick v6 or GraphicsMagick is now mandatory.</li>
</ul>
The release plan for 4.6, the schedule and the planned projects are detailed in the <a href="http://forge.typo3.org/projects/typo3v46-projects/wiki" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">project wiki on forge</a>.

SpringCM Unveils Latest Version of Leading Bid & Proposal Solution

After three years of development and over €1 million R&amp;D investment, Web Content Management (WCM) provider pTools today launched a new cloud-based version of its software, pTools System6, for the global market.
Developed to take advantage of cloud computing scalability at lower costs, it offers customers an enterprise level website environment that is ready for development, meaning they can cost-effectively deploy and maintain their web presences in a matter of hours.
Keith Wood, the new CEO of pTools who took over from Tom Skinner, pTools founder, last year and has driven the new development says:
“pTools System6 is the most powerful software we have delivered to date and comes at a time when IT managers in Ireland and internationally are looking to reduce overheads dramatically.  It provides extensive functionality on-cloud or on-premise that’s easy to use and easy to scale.” “When setting up a CMS online you typically buy the software, spec the servers, install, configure, and put the servers in a data centre. You then add firewall boxes and routers, sign a hosting and bandwidth agreement, put it all online and pay annual support and maintenance for hardware, software and so on. With a cloud solution, you just turn it on and start straight away – no upfront hardware or IT support costs, and no hassle.”
Speaking of the customisation features Woods adds: “Customers can log in to the pTools WCM Designer to choose what components they want to use. This means they get exactly what they want from the software exactly the way they want it.”
pTools System6 uses the latest cloud computing infrastructure from Irish company, Fort Technologies, ensuring stability and optimum performance. Key benefits of the solution include:
<ul>
<li>Lower costs of ownership of enterprise WCM software and hardware.</li>
<li>Faster implementation and better delivery of new web content.</li>
<li>Easy-to-use interface that makes complex tasks simple.</li>
<li>More applications including ‘Digital Asset Management’. </li>
<li>Increased marketing effectiveness of targeted content.</li>
<li>Mobile web and social media content sharing.</li>
<li>Reduced overheads for IT managers and better use of IT resources. </li>
<li>Scalability to handle the busiest and best sites online.</li>
</ul>
 Commenting further on the initiative, Dee Allott, pTools General Manager for Canada where the company recently expanded said:
“pTools position in Canada and within the international marketplace for content management is significantly strengthened with this new solution. Cloud computing is still formative in terms of customer expectations but it is without doubt the future of almost all applications to be delivered and all the major firms are going in this direction.”
Dee Allott is former President at Lexmark Canada and General Manager of Lexmark Europe. He brings a wealth of experience to the pTools team and company plans for growth and development.
Commenting on the initiative, Gerry Murray, CEO of Fort Technologies, said:
“Partners like pTools are core to Fort’s strategy of providing a single interface that addresses the hybrid cloud model of SaaS, IaaS and on premise through a single intuitive console. It’s a true partnership where the pTools offering enriches Fort’s offering while our platform and management software provides another channel to market through our cloud marketplace for independent software vendors such as pTools.”
pTools focus is on Finance, Health, Government, Security, and Energy sectors.  pTools includes functionality for Web Content Management, Multi-Language Content, Accessibility Compliant Content, Digital Asset Content, and Learning Content Management. pTools System6 is available on the Fort Technologies Cloud as well as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Oracle Cloud platforms.
<a href="http://pTools.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">pTools</a> is an enterprise level WCM software vendor with offices in Dublin Ireland and Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Customers include: Allianz Insurance plc., The Irish Stock Exchange, Enterprise Ireland, and Wolters Kluwer plc.

According to research analyst IDC, more smartphones shipped in the last quarter of 2010 than PCs. And mobile connections worldwide already outnumber PC connections. In what Apple's Steve Jobs has coined the post-PC world, support for mobile content delivery has become essential for web publishers.
The Ingeniux Mobile Portal is a new solution for Ingeniux CMS users that provides a flexible mobile website solution for smart phone users. It includes mobile channel publishing for multiple content types, including Ingeniux CMS content, syndicated content (ATOM or RSS), and third-party services like Google Maps, Twitter and Facebook. With the addition of the Ingeniux Cartella community server, mobile portal publishers can provide secure content, deploy digital lockers, and personalize services for end users. The mobile portal also easily integrates back office data and applications using a set of pre-built connectors.
Ingeniux has created a series of service packages to help customers configure the Ingeniux CMS Dynamic Site Server to target content to mobile devices, including those running on the Apple iOS, Google Android, Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Series, and Blackberry RIM platforms. New training programs are designed to help web teams support mobile best practices in their organizations.
