Citrix Executive Joins DotNetNuke Corp.’s Board of Directors

A serious vulnerability was found in Microsoft's ASP .Net web development framework that is described as follows:

in Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and above, this vulnerability can be used by an attacker to retrieve the contents of any file within the ASP.NET application, including web.config”  and that “this vulnerability can also be used for data tampering, which, if successfully exploited, could be used to decrypt and tamper with the data encrypted by the server

All users who are affected are strongly encouraged to patch immediately to avoid potential issues.

eZ unveils eZ Publish Enterprise 4.4

A new version of liveSite has been made available. liveSite if a free website builder produced by Camelback Web Architects and this new version offers plenty of new features for you to enjoy.
New Rich-text Editor

Cart Regions have been enhanced to be more dynamic. They will not display anything if there are no items in the current session's cart. If there are items in the current session's cart, the items and subtotal is displayed, and linked to the most recent shopping cart or express order page visited. This allows you to create multiple checkout processes for different audiences, and the cart region will navigate the visitor to the correct checkout page automatically.
Improved Login Region
You can now disable the login form from being displayed for more control over the visitor's experience. This is useful if you want to display the user's name if they are logged it, or nothing it they are not.
Improved E-Mail Campaigns
liveSite now strips out JavaScript automatically from page designs before e-mailing them to prevent spam security errors in some e-mail clients. Also, Form List View pages that are sent via e-mail campaigns now support personalization (e.g. “name” field).
Expiring Tracking Codes
liveSite tracking codes (browser cookies) now expire themselves after 6 months to prevent old tracking codes from showing up again in Visitor Reports.
Control Panel Improvements
We added many small improvements to the liveSite Control Panel so it is less cluttered, and now notifies you when new software updates are available.

TYPO3 CMS version 4.5 with Long Term Support available

SEO Toaster is a product by a company called SEO Samba and is touted as “Most advanced SEO CMS &amp; Ecommerce website builder right out of the box, free and open source”.Does it actually stand true to this statement? Let's investigate.You can download the product from the SEO Toaster website (link at the bottom of this review).Once you've installed the product (a fairly painless process) you are greeted with a rather plain page:As you can see in the screenshot above, it states that there is no admin area and you can edit text immediately by “clicking here” except there's nothing there.  Typically, if you had first authenticated yourself, you'd actually see something where the arrow is pointing. If you have not, however, you would be totally lost.There is no easy hidden link to authenticate and if you installed the system and wanted to come back to it in a few days, you may not remember that the path to the authentication screen is http://yourdomain.com/go which could leave you stumbling around frustrated for a few before you can find the way in.Is this a game breaker? Of course not, but it is something that I think needs to be corrected or improved on.Let's assume now that you have authenticated yourself, you would see a small box with a letter in it and the screenshot above explains their meaning.Once you are logged in, you will have a “show/hide dashboard” function as shown below:<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/recitecms-2_rt2hjo.jpg" />True, it might not be the most attractive looking dashboard, but it works and is fast to navigate the options which is what matters.Browsing through the functionality we have a number of menu options. It has a good chunk of functionality and includes the most common SEO functions one would expect.The addition of the payment integration is nice but currently only supports PayPal which is a bit limiting. However, at least it has some form of ecommerce functionality.I would not, however, call this the most advanced SEO and eCommerce website builder available and that's the part that I am struggling with. I most certainly think it's a good product and it appears to have tons of potential, but I see no advanced SEO functionality that is different from any other website builder or CMS I've tested. Also, considering the ecommerce options are limited, it's not really right to call that piece advanced either.Are these issues with the product? No.Does this mean you should avoid it? Absolutely not.In fact, I would recommend you test it out and provide feedback to the SEO Samba team so they can improve the product. The open-source CMS, SilverStripe, has a new version that's been made available. This release solves a number of potential security vulnerabilities:

<li>Draft pages were visible to unauthenticated users on specifically crafted URLs.</li>
<li>An content author with access to the “Security” section in the CMS could potentially take over an administrator account.</li>
</ul>

<h3>Improved Windows Support</h3>
SilverStripe 2.4.2 offers increased confidence over past versions for running our software on Windows OS when using SQL Server as the database. Previously, you had to run SilverStripe on Linux for all unit tests to pass. As a result of fixing bugs and unit tests, all SilverStripe unit tests now pass when running on Windows. SilverStripe CMS 2.4.2 released

Moodle 2.0 RC1 was released recently, and you can get daily builds from the <a href="http://download.moodle.org/">Moodle download</a> page. <img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/smiley.gif" alt="smile" />
NOTE: this is not the final release yet!
This milestone reflects the fact that the 2.0 feature set is now completely implemented and available in the core code.

The final release should be in a month or so. Until then:

Moodle 2.0 Release Candidate 1

Six Apart, the company responsible for the producing the once popular Movable Type, has been acquired by advertising network, <a href="http://www.videoegg.com">Video Egg</a>.  Six Apart has continued to produce Movable Type over the years but has lost an enormous chunk of it's once strong hold of the blogging/content management market. Most of this due to the introduction of WordPress.
The final straw for Six Apart and <a href="http://www.movabletype.com">Movable Type</a> in my mind came with the introduction of Movable Type 5.. a product that basically took what was good about Movable Type and threw it out the window in a weak attempt to redesign their product and give it a similar look and feel to rival WordPress.
It's been obvious for some time that even the developers of Movable Type were displeased with the 5.0 product line and to prove their displeasure (whether they openly say so or not) they launched <a href="http://openmelody.org/">Melody</a> which is based on MT4.
There is no real mention of the future of Movable Type, they have been careful not to say one way or the other what will happen but considering their lack of interest in the MT product and their huge focus on the media end of their business, I think it best to recommend that if you are on the MT platform, you jump ship while you can.
Not all will agree with me on this one and I'm sure some will be upset but I think one must be realistic in this type of circumstance.

It's great for Six Apart that now they have a chance to build upon their media business but I feel it should also be a major concern for those using their publishing platforms.
