I'm a big fan of minimalist themes with nice typography and Vigilance Pro by the Theme Foundry is one of my personal favorites. I wanted to take a minute to show everyone the features and look of this theme in this quick Vigilance Pro Review.
There are two different options available, Vigilance (free) and Vigilance Pro. While the free option may be a good option for some people, the Pro provides much better feature such as:

There are a number of options, such as rotating through a group of images in a directory, etc. This can be configured on this section of the option page:

Next down is the configuration of the Alert box. This is a small, shaded box that appears above all of your posts and is a great location to pass on some info about a new contest, giveaways or general info that you need to pass to your readers.

As you can see in the first screenshot in this post, there is also a sidebar image shown (this can be used for anything from banner ads to just pictures in general.
The configuration for this is similar to the top banner image. You can use static, rotating images and more:

Last but not least, there is a box that goes on the sidebar and can be used for as an RSS sign up and contains a twitter link. This can be configured in the theme options as well.
Vigilance Pro also comes with a number of unique page templates such as the Archive Page, Sitemap Page and Page templates with or without sidebars.
Visually, Vigilance Pro is an excellent theme with very well done typography and styling. For example, block quotes are well done and attractive:

For those of you who are looking for a slick theme with nice typography for a reasonable price, Vigilance Pro is an excellent option and I highly recommend it. Clean code, HTML 5 functionality and an easy to use theme options page make this is a great choice for bloggers and business users alike.

Vigilance Pro Review

Melody is an open source content management and publishing system derived from the popular blogging tool Movable Type.  Recently they announced their first release candidate has been made available.

Webfactories launches CMS reseller system

Packt today announced that its donations to open source projects have surpassed the $300,000 mark. Following its first donation to the phpMyAdmin project in April 2004, the company has gone on to provide sustained support for over 70 different open source projects.
Packt has introduced initiatives such as the annual Open Source Award and Open Source Project Royalty Scheme to provide sustained donations to projects over the last six years.
“Most of the money that we've used, donated from Packt has gone towards running jQuery conferences for the community and bringing together the jQuery team to do development work together.” said John Resig, the founder of the popular JavaScript library, jQuery. “The financial contributions have been very valuable and in that regard, have resulted in a team that's able to operate much more efficiently and effectively.”
The Open Source Awards, now in its fifth year, has been adapted from the established Open Source Content Management System (CMS) Award with the wider aim of encouraging, supporting, recognizing and rewarding all open source projects. “The support that Packt has shown, through its book royalties and awards, has contributed to that success and helped the Drupal project handle its growth” added Dries Buytaert, founder of the CMS Drupal, winner of the 2007 and 2008’s Overall CMS Award, and a project which also benefits from Packt’s Open Source Project Royalty Scheme.

Veolay releases 1.1

Tiki Trackers: The Easy Way to add interaction

Nibbleblog is a blog platform that uses XML databases as opposed to MySQL and others. It is small, weighing in at less than half a megabyte and easy to install with a simple 1 step installer. Today, I bring you my Nibbleblog Review.
Some of the main features of this blog engine include:

Not bad for less than a meg is it? Is it worth checking out? Read on to find out more.
The default look of the blog once installed is pretty good. You get a decent looking template with a single right sidebar ready to be customized for your needs. Heck, for the most part, you could probably get away with just using the template as is if you just wanted a quick and easy blog that's ready to go.

There aren't many options for available templates / themes available ( 3 total ) but for those who are willing to put a little bit of work into customizing (or just using one of the 3) this is not a major detractor.
The dashboard is very well put together and is snappy and responsive:

All of the typical options are available and work as expected. Overall, it was a pleasant experience to use this editor.
What I especially liked is the next option available.. Video blogging.
Adding a video post is very, very easy. Simply add the URL and the system goes out and grabs the description automatically.

You can of course modify these should you wish to do so. You can also add tags.

<h3>Conclusion</h3>
After testing our their demo, I was impressed with the amount of functionality that is present in this tiny software package. Not only does it feel snappy and user friendly but it just works as one would expect.
I think this product is a great option for those looking for a quick and easy to setup blog. It would be nice to see more themes and plug ins but this only comes with the community expanding more.
