HP has acquired full control of <a href="http://www.autonomy.com/content/News/Releases/2011/1003.en.html">Autonomy Corporation</a>, one of the largest and most successful enterprise information management companies in the industry. Autonomy's software offerings power more than 25,000 customer accounts worldwide and, as part of HP, will provide high-value business solutions to help customers manage the explosion of unstructured and structured information.

Liferay, providers of the increasingly popular open source portal, have announced their latest beta for their upcoming 6.1 here their annual <a href="http://www.liferay.com/events/liferay-symposiums/west-coast-2011">West Coast Symposium</a>. Along with this announcement, they have also introduced Liferay Marketplace, a channel for Liferay’s worldwide community of developers and partners to reach Liferay’s broad installation base with enterprise applications and plugins that augment Liferay Portal’s core portal, collaboration, and web content management (WCM) platform. With Marketplace offerings enhancing Liferay’s lightweight platform, customers will be able to build sites and web-based solutions at accelerated speeds.
First previewed at the Liferay East Coast Symposium in May, the Liferay Marketplace hits the first phase of its launch at the West Coast Symposium with a developer-ready release, which includes an SDK for app development. Liferay is already awaiting plugin contributions from several ISV partners, including Alfresco, Omegabit, ProfIT Software, Roambi, salsaDev, SocialEkwity, TandemSeven, Vaadin, and Xtivia.

Onxshop, a CMS and e-commerce package created for web developers, is now available for free download following its open source launch.
The newly released Onxshop CMS provides one of the simplest options currently available on the web for combining traditional content management and an eCommerce store.
It was made available for free download last month after almost a decade of use on the web projects of its creator Norbert Laposa, of Belfast-based Laposa Web Solutions.
The platform has been operating since 2002. In that time it has processed more than 50,000 e-commerce transactions worth £1.5 million.
Norbert explained: “The product is stable and has been functioning successfully for several years. It continues to be in active development and I will be providing regular updates.
“Onxshop uses state of the art web design principles, such as Fibonacci based layout, semantic HTML and CSS, and progressive enhancement.”
The platform aims to provide a framework that web professionals can put their own design stamp upon, but also a common-sense system for end users.
While experts can easily alter the CSS to create their own designs, at its simplest level the system offers a series of professional multi-column layouts and content building blocks for easy insertion of rich text, photo galleries, HTML and much more.
The Onxshop system is already in use on around 40 business websites and other sites, including the Waitrose HTML and CSS templates, were built using Onxshop.
JING Tea, another retailer currently using Onxshop, won Google’s Best of British Web competition last week for its use of the system.
Norbert is now eager for other developers who find Onxshop useful to contribute to the source code.
He added: “We are a small company, so it's a very good opportunity for others to jump on the wagon. We’re not a big corporation. People can deal directly with me, the main developer, and get support from me.
“We want to listen to what people think about the system and make any changes that are going to improve Onxshop as an open source CMS.”

SilverStripe Ltd. is due to release <a href="http://silverstripe.org/roadmap/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">SilverStripe CMS 3.0</a> in alpha in October and beta before Christmas. The biggest change to the current content management system will be the separation of the SilverStripe Framework as it’s own entity. The framework as a stable basis, formerly known as ‘Sapphire’, enables the developer to build more than just traditional websites but applications for any device and any purpose.
CMS 3.0 promises an improved user interface, a better technical platform and will embrace social media and mobile web applications
Product Marketing Manager Kerstin Schuman says that SilverStripe Ltd. is proud to give the framework a status of it’s own; it is a great tool to build anything a developer wants. The framework will now become a standalone member of the SilverStripe Suite, becoming downloadable as a separate development tool. The SilverStripe Suite comprises of the SilverStripe CMS, SilverStripe Framework, SilverStripe Site Monitor and supported SilverStripe modules.
Schuman says the release of the framework gives SilverStripe the opportunity to reach a new group of people who need more than just a CMS in order to build creative new web applications.
These changes mean that the SilverStripe site performance measuring tool, previously known as Dawn, will be renamed to SilverStripe Site Monitor.

A new maintenance release of Drupal has been made available. This version (7.8) offers only bug fixes with the primary fix being <a href="http://drupal.org/node/1164852">#1164852: (regression) Node bodies display as empty after upgrade to 7.7 from 6.x if the nodes have a language</a>.
For those who are currently running earlier versions, upgrading is highly recommended in order to take advantage of this and other fixes.
