The latest release of the ever popular <a href="http://www.wordpress.org">WordPress</a> is now out. Version 3.3 brings with it the following changes:
<h3>For Users</h3>
Experienced users will appreciate the new drag-and-drop uploader, hover menus for the navigation, the new toolbar, improved co-editing support, and the new Tumblr importer. We’ve also been thinking a ton about what the WordPress experience is like for people completely new to the software. Version 3.3 has significant improvements there with pointer tips for new features included in each update, a friendly welcome message for first-time users, and revamped help tabs throughout the interface. Finally we’ve improved the dashboard experience on the iPad and other tablets with better touch support.
<h3>For Developers</h3>
There is a ton of candy for developers as well. I’d recommend starting your exploration with the new editor API, new jQuery version, better ways to hook into the help screens, more performant post-slug-only permalinks, and of course the entire list of improvements on the Codex and in Trac.
Check out this video showcasing the features:

The new alliance enables Granite Horizon to complement its existing web content management offering with Nuxeo’s extensive content management technology, for functionality ranging from document management to digital asset management to case management, and more.

“We are delighted to work with Nuxeo, an international leader in enterprise content management,” said Greg McAvoy-Jensen, Granite Horizon executive director.  “Particularly exciting is the advanced workflow management Nuxeo provides, enabling all kinds of business processes to be automated using a graphical design environment. Nuxeo's world class document, case and digital asset management capabilities are a great match for our existing Web-facing platform,” McAvoy-Jensen noted.
</blockquote>
<blockquote>

Open Source WCM Implementer Adds Nuxeo Open Source ECM to its Solution Portfoli

<a href="http://www.crownpeak.com">CrownPeak</a> has launched its highly anticipated new user interface (UI). The CrownPeak Cloud content management solution (CMS) is the first enterprise-grade CMS to offer a consumer-like interface that enables non-technical users to create and publish content to all digital channels resulting in the ability to run faster and more effective campaigns.
The complexity of multi-lingual marketing into many digital channels combined with regulated publishing environments has resulted in cumbersome workflow interfaces. The new CrownPeak UI removes these complexities and allows digital marketing content to be implemented quickly with a zero learning curve for new system users.
<blockquote>“Web content management plays a vital role in helping global 1000 enterprises achieve major business objectives including: managing the global brand, capturing new customers, launching new products and markets, and retaining customers,” stated Jim Howard, chief executive officer at CrownPeak. “The new CrownPeak user interface fundamentally changes what is expected of an enterprise WCM system. While WCM was once the domain of a select few – essentially an expert-only system – organizations can now expand their content contributor pool dramatically and enhance their online customer engagement as a result.”</blockquote>
The CrownPeak UI presents the entire content management dashboard workflow in one, easy-to-view, comprehensive screen. Content creators no longer need to toggle between multiple windows. They can seamlessly view, add, and share dynamic content, layouts, analytics, lead generation data, and web content optimization information in a single interface. The workflow is intuitively designed so communication with team members, recent file activity, tutorials, best practices tests, targets, and reports can be managed while a preview of the page being worked on remains in view.
IT departments can maintain control of the infrastructure while giving marketers the ability to serve visitors with the right content at the right time. The CrownPeak solution offers pre-integrated frameworks, the ability to deliver Cloud WCM globally without replicating IT infrastructure, and a platform-agnostic solution to import, export and publish data through standard protocols and formats.
“Great user interface design is based on an intuitive application which is not usually found in the enterprise,” continued Howard. “Simplifying common tasks like finding, modifying, and moving content through workflow, but still enabling the power to perform advanced tasks like adjusting workflow or targeting content to specific user segments, all in the same interface, was the requirement. Every CrownPeak customer will have access to a UI that achieves this objective. Furthermore, CrownPeak manages the system upgrade which enables every customer to toggle back and forth between the new and old interface on the day we hit general release. That’s the beauty of SaaS – we ensure that customers constantly receive the newest and most innovative technology.”
In addition to unveiling the new user interface during Gilbane Boston, executives from ACE Group and Progress Software will share product case studies demonstrating the effectiveness of the CrownPeak Cloud SaaS CMS approach. CrownPeak is also participating on a customer and engagement panel discussing how to reach a global audience.
More information about the benefits of a Cloud CMS System can be found in CrownPeak's Resources Library. Enterprises interested in learning more about the new CrownPeak user interface can contact CrownPeak at 800-887-1977 in the US; +44-203-384-6598 in Europe to request a demo or click here for additional contact details.

WordPress 3.3 beta 4 has been released.
<blockquote>
With all our major tickets closed, we are very close to a release candidate. In Beta 4 we’ve fixed a bunch of bugs, cleaned up the UI, added real text in some of the screens that still had placeholder text in Beta 3 (post-update screen, the Dashboard welcome area, new feature pointers), and generally tightened things up. We updated to jQuery 1.7.1 and addressed a LOT of bugs.

WordPress 3.3 beta 4 released

Delivering on its commitment to help customers grow the value of their enterprise content management (ECM) investment, Laserfiche today announced the immediate availability of Laserfiche 8.3. The new release spans various lines of business, helping organizations improve information governance and automate transactional processes such as accounts payable processing, case management, contract management and HR onboarding, among others.
“We are committed to providing product enhancements that improve the way organizations do business. Over the past year, our customers have begun automating more and more complex business processes, and we developed Laserfiche 8.3 to respond to their needs,” said Tom Wayman, Vice President of Product Strategy at Laserfiche.
Laserfiche 8.3 includes the following new and enhanced features:
• New Workflow activities that improve productivity. With Laserfiche, organizations quickly automate transactional processes by dragging and dropping pre-built workflow activities onto a graphical canvas. o Database activities automate the process of retrieving and updating information from third-party databases, simplifying integration. o PDF activities add immediate value to the product suite by enabling Laserfiche administrators to automatically import PDF forms into Laserfiche, retrieve information from PDF fields and map them to Laserfiche fields. o More than 60 built-in workflow activities make it easier than ever to customize workflow configuration to the unique needs of each organization and line of business. • Digital signatures that simplify information governance. Digital signatures in Laserfiche 8.3 are validated with signing certificates on the server, so users know that a signature is trustworthy. Digital signatures can also prompt Workflow activities that guide documents through the approval process. • A new Web Administration Console that improves deployment flexibility. Laserfiche 8.3 offers an easy way for administrators to securely access the administrative functions of the repository from anywhere—including remote sites, client computers and even mobile devices—making administration more flexible than ever.
“The advanced business process management capabilities and administration tools in Laserfiche 8.3 enable organizations of all sizes to rapidly implement a wide variety of transactional content management solutions,” said Wayman. “Laserfiche 8.3 is an infrastructure deployment that enables our customers to use ECM as a foundation for delivering shared services across the enterprise.”

Laserfiche 8.3 Takes Transactional Content Management to New Level

In business, it is possible to use various types of software to help make processes more efficient. For instance, the majority of businesses collect data about what is going on in their company; this could be information relating to finance, sales and the type of customers who tend to use their services. <a href="http://www.sage.co.uk/softwaresolutions">Computer software</a> can be used to manage and analyse this data more successfully, meaning it offers as much value to the business as possible and the most accurate results are produced.
Two common types of software used to do this are <a href="http://www.sage.co.uk/crm">CRM software</a> and CMS applications. CRM stands for customer relationship management and it is something that is important for all businesses – no matter whether they use specific software for it or not. CMS stands for content management system, and this can be used to complement a business’s CRM solutions to make sure information is managed as successfully as possible.
This means that CMS and CRM systems can be very useful at supporting each other. Let’s take the example of a small clothing store that is looking to boost its sales and improve the number of customers who offer them return business. That company could use a CRM system to gather information on existing sales. For instance, how many customers do they get every month? How much do they spend? How many customers sign up to the business newsletter? What do they buy?
These are all important questions that can help a business to build better relationships with its customers and the CRM software can also be used to track trends in information. For example, what are the sales of a particular product like before and after a targeted marketing campaign? If there is a sales boost, is it sustainable or is more marketing needed? Information such as this can be used to determine what the business needs to do in order to create better relationships with their customers.
In order to do this, though, the information needs to be managed properly and the actions of the business need to be tracked sufficiently so that the impact of those actions can be determined. This is where CMS can help businesses: it allows staff to collaborate and for multiple employees to work on similar issues, while making sure information stays up to date by recording details on the relevant software.
This can also help with assigning employees specific tasks. For instance, one employee might be tasked with coming up with a marketing campaign to generate more customers – the details of what they do can be entered into CMS systems and the impact of the work can be measured through CRM software. This means that CRM systems and CMS applications are very useful in their own right, but they are arguably even more useful when used in conjunction with each other.
There are various software options available for businesses to choose from, so it’s important for companies to choose the system that will best suit them. Overall, CRM is important for <a href="http://www.sage.co.uk/why-sage/sage-for-bigger-businesses.html">any successful business</a> and so it makes sense to choose software that will help them to do the job well.

Today sees the launch of GOSS iCM (intelligent Content Management) version 9.1.0.1, the latest upgrade to the market leading Web Content Management system built by GOSS Interactive.
The solution allows public, private and third sector organisations to drive efficiency savings into their business. GOSS clients can deliver more services online and gain a better understanding how website visitors use a website. For some clients, this has resulted in savings of up to £3 million.
Suggested external links and media Users of GOSS iCM could always search for external content, like links and media, from within the Web Content Management system. Additionally, users have been able to use iSuggest, a tool that suggests related content from the website database. The tool can even add related content to pages without users having to look through the suggested content.
Now the software engineers at GOSS have combined both technologies. Users can now enter copy into a web page that iSuggest will “read” and decide what the content is about. It will then search the internet, as well as internal libraries. It then finds relevant links and media that it thinks will enrich the page. You don’t have to just direct the software to libraries within GOSS iCM, extensions can be easily created to allow searching of other content repositories and document management systems. Examples are provided for various systems including Microsoft SharePoint.
If you pick any of the suggestions, it is automatically added to the GOSS iCM library and related to the page with a one click operation. To help users, external and internal links and media have different icons so that users can quickly see what is stored where and the external source.
Users need to be careful when selecting external media and ensure they have the correct permissions and understand the copyright implications, as outlined in this blog post, re-using web content and copyright.
Google maps picker Website users often want to indicate the location of something, be it an event, their favourite cafe or an abandoned vehicle. GOSS iCM now has the ability to offer website users a Google map onto which they can add a pin, to indicate a postcode or named location. Controls in the forms designer, that come free with GOSS iCM, allow administrators to set:
<ul>
<li>Default location</li>
<li>Whether the map is displayed or not</li>
<li>The type of map displayed (hybrid, terrain, roadmap or satellite)</li>
<li>The zoom level</li>
<li>The size of the map (height/width)</li>
<li>The text on the buttons</li>
<li>The label text above the map</li>
</ul>
The latitude and longitude is stored in GOSS iCM for administrator use. Within the forms package are simple workflow tools to allow staff to process a request and feedback to the customer. Watch this video showing the location picker.
Rob McCarthy, CEO at GOSS Interactive comments; “Our active community of users regularly suggests and vote on functionality that they would like to see in GOSS iCM. These two features come directly from that engagement. One creates a really powerful tool to make content contribution as easy as possible. The other equips website users to interact with organisations geographically.”
The upgraded software is free to all clients with a support contract. For further information about the release, go to <a href="http://www.gossinteractive.com/v9-1-0-1">http://www.gossinteractive.com/v9-1-0-1</a>

Business-to-Business (B2B) is a term used to define business transactions between businesses. An example of a b to b business might be a manufacturer that only sells to a wholesaler, or a wholesale business that sells to a retail business. In other words, the b2b business does not sell directly to the consumer. Business to Consumer (B2C) organizations are the most widely known. But there a very large percentage of the global market that is dedicated to b2b marketing, and generates 100% of its revenue from Business to Business transactions. In fact, the number of B2B business transactions far outpaces B2C transactions.
The primary source of these transactions occurs somewhere in the production and distribution supply chain and is typically generated by parts, components or raw materials used to create a product, and product packaging and other parts and pieces that contribute to the final product that is sold to the consumer. As b2b markets expanded, the term Business to Business came to be associated with many types of goods and services sold by one company to another company to satisfy a business need. These items can include supplies for use by the employees of an organization.
Whether your business to business organization is large or small, you cannot afford to ignore the opportunities provided by a robust Content Management System (CMS). With the rapid growth of b2b marketing, many organizations use a CMS solution to provide information about wholesale products, and to allow business clients secure access to account information, orders, shipments, and upcoming product announcements.
Elegant MicroWeb encourages its b to b clients to consider Content Management Systems to promote and sell products and services, and to share information with business partners through CMS solutions that provide document management, searchable user lists and user profiles, newsletter services, email lists, and export of information to CRM, ERP and other systems. Using CMS systems and internet access to connect with business to business stakeholders can satisfy all manner of business relationship information and data. These open source CMS solutions are easy to use and easy to secure, where the b2B organization wishes to provide password-protected access to orders or other sensitive information. A cost effective enterprise or enterprise CMS web site or portal is as important to the business to business enterprise as a retail promotion and shopping web site is to a business to consumer enterprise.
How Can Content Management Software Help my B2B Business? Content Management solutions are no longer restricted to packaged software applications. The original CMS systems offered simple file taxonomy and structure; whereas today’s CMS solutions have evolved to open source, off-the-shelf CMS modules, templates and frameworks. These more sophisticated tools allow clients to meet specific business and usage requirements and to customize CMS applications to achieve business goals.
CMS experts offer customized development and enhancement. Once these experts identify an appropriate framework of CMS tools, content, site maps, web design, templates, workflow and access rights, end users can easily manage the content and site, without the assistance of programmers or developers. The site and content may be updated by content generators, editors, moderators or others within your organization. Content Management Software may also be integrated to provide interoperability with other systems used by your company. CMS solutions and CMS tools provide value through scalability and improved portal performance.
We believe that every organization can benefit from a Content Management System (CMS). CMS frameworks, tools and templates like Joomla, Drupal, dotCMS, Liferay Portal, SharePoint and JBoss Portal can be broadly or specifically applied to address any of the following requirements.
Should My Company Hire an Expert to Implement a B2B Content Management System?
It takes specific experience, innovation, creativity and intelligence to design and develop a Content Management System. The team must be educated in all available CMS tools and templates, and understand the exchange of information and products and services unique to the business to business enterprise. The CMS portal or web site must be created with full insight into appropriate design and development. CMS experts have an understanding of what is required to create an appealing, yet simple interface. Many b2b organizations do business with industrial, wholesale and distribution clients and in some instances with global clients or suppliers. If the CMS web site is not designed for simple access and use, business revenue and web site traffic will suffer. The b to b CMS web site must be logically organized, with meaningful content; a well-conceived access policy, appropriate security, and great usability and interoperability. If your business to business content management system is to succeed, it must utilize appropriate CMS solutions and CMS tools, carefully selected to meet your customer requirements, objectives, goals, schedules and budgets. This selection is a complex process.
There are many content management software solutions, each with a different philosophy, theme, theory, functional architecture and scalability. The newest Web 2.0 standards and evolving social networking platforms include stringent requirements to ensure interoperability with internal and external company systems. When selecting the CMS solution, one must also consider available bandwidth and processing power, Search Engine mechanisms and SEO paradigms, as well as client and server side technology, platforms and trends. In truth the task of selecting, designing and developing a b2b content management system is complex and should be approached only with the assistance of experts who fully understand the available CMS tools and the unique issues faced by the business to business organization.

Business to Business (b2b) Content Management Systems (CMS)

Efficiency is something that is continuously cited by businesses as something they take very seriously. However, despite this prioritising of efficiency, relatively few businesses actually invest in infrastructure that could help them to become more efficient. This means that while many businesses are operating well, they aren’t necessarily achieving their full potential. Read on to find out how relationship management and <a href="http://www.sage.co.uk/crm">CRM software</a>can help you to better understand efficiency and improve your company’s operations.As you might expect, if you want your business to become more efficient, you need to understand your customers. Who are they? Why do they use your business? Which customers are worth the most to you? Knowing the answers to questions like this help you to develop a strategy to move your business forward, and you can integrate your relationship management data with your business’s aims and goals.
This is something that <a href="http://www.sage.co.uk/crm">a good CRM system</a> will be able to help you with, taking a lot of the work out of your hands and making it easier for you to review and analyse customer data. For instance, <a href="http://www.sage.co.uk/crm">CRM systems</a> can store information on the process of your relationships, from the point where you open negotiations with a customer to the point of closing the sale.
Keeping track of things such as this is really useful for businesses. It allows you to sit down afterwards and work out how the process went. Was it as efficient as it could have been? How long did it take? Did it take more or less time than similar sales? What is the sale worth to your business? Is there room for improvement? This is information it could take a while to compile if you did it all yourself, but CRM solutions help to speed things up as well as making them clearer – which is already a step in the right direction towards efficiency.
Relationship management can also help you to understand efficiency in other areas of your business. For instance, how do you correspond with your customers and contacts? How often do you do it? How long does it take you? If you currently find the process of developing and distributing a company newsletter time-consuming, for example, you might find that you can improve the efficiency of the system by looking for CRM solutions.
Overall, this will not only help you to understand the efficiency of your business better, but will also give you greater insight into your customers. This really matters, as giving the best possible customer service is vital when it comes to long-term business success.
