There are plenty of people who contribute to the amazing success of the popular open source content management system, Joomla!, but none have managed to capture as much admiration as long time contributor and member of the Joomla Leadership team, Louis Landry. Without intentionally trying, Louis' name has been synonymous with Joomla! and everything the project strives to be.
Yesterday, Louis Landry <a href="https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/joomla-leadership/Ua25RAHgdWQ/discussion">announced his retirement</a> from Joomla Leadership after years of hard work:

While some may consider this a great loss for the Joomla project, I consider it a great addition to the developer community and am excited to see where Louis' name shows up next.

The 2011 Open Source Awards was launched today by Packt, inviting people to visit <a href="http://www.packtpub.com/">www.PacktPub.com</a> and submit nominations for their favorite Open Source project. Now in its sixth year, the Awards continue in its aim of encouraging, supporting, recognizing and rewarding all Open Source projects.

Adobe Releases Early Preview of New HTML5 Web Motion and Interaction Design Tool

ExpressionEngine 2.2.2 has been released today.  Version 2.2.2 is a minor update targeting membership sites who use “Manual activation by an administrator” only.  It is not a necessary upgrade for other sites, and the handful of fixes in this release will be included in our next scheduled release targeting all users.
A change in behavior was introduced in 2.2 with respect to the “Pending” member group’s ability to log in to an ExpressionEngine web site.  While template access restrictions, and member group access permissions are customizable for this special member group, previous versions of ExpressionEngine did not allow members assigned to this group to log in, but 2.2 did.  The change was substantial enough to treat it as a critical bug for the small percentage of sites that are affected by this behavior, prompting today’s release.
If you have a membership based site running version 2.2 or 2.2.1, and are using manual activation for your newly registered members, and have content on your site that is available to registered members but not protected by template access or the Pending member group’s membership preferences, please <a href="https://secure.expressionengine.com/download.php">download</a> and <a href="http://expressionengine.com/user_guide/installation/update.html">update</a> to version 2.2.2.

ExpressionEngine 2.2.2 Released
