Under terms of the completed transaction, Godengo  has acquired Texterity, a provider of digital magazines and mobile applications. Terms of the private deal were not disclosed.
The combined company provides services to more than 1,200 magazine titles owned by more than 500 publishers throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia. It is also the only technology-service provider in the space that helps publishers seamlessly transition, integrate, and enhance their content across multiple digital and mobile platforms, the companies said.

Stilson added that a key objective of the combined company, which will be re-branded in the months ahead, is to continue to grow its capabilities. “We’ve just completed raising a Series C round of growth capital and will use those resources to expand and enhance our services and products.” Capital for expansion and facilitating the purchase of Texterity was provided by investors including New Science Ventures.
Carl Scholz, who is currently President of Texterity and previously served as the company’s chief operating officer, will become President of the combined company. Previously, Scholz worked at Houghton Mifflin Company, and also held management and software engineering positions at the Open Software Foundation, Interactive Systems Corporation, and NCR Corporation.
Martin Hensel, who founded Texterity in 1991 and has been at the forefront of the digital publishing industry for more than two decades, will advise the new company as part of his new consulting practice for publishers and media technology firms.
Texterity’s client roster includes Conde Nast, Meredith Corp., Oracle, Rodale, American Chemical Society, Harvard Business Review, IDG Communications, Crain Communications, and Entrepreneur.
In addition to developing digital editions of magazines, catalogues, and other publications, Texterity has strong expertise in building a mobile web reading experience and branded mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire, and Android devices.

While digital magazine formats are extending the reach of print editions and have been a positive development for the industry, key to continuing to attract digital subscribers is to focus on making the medium as interactive and user-friendly as possible versus just putting content onto websites.
This acquisition is surely the first of many to come as CMS solution providers look to woo publishers; many of whom are seeing  rapidly declining interest (and sales) in their print editions and formats; to their platforms.

Liferay has certified the Nuxeo Platform as a content source for Liferay Portal 6.1 Enterprise Edition (EE). Both software solutions, which are Java-based and open source, are compliant with the OASIS CMIS (Content Management Interoperability Services) standard. A CMIS-based connector enables a Nuxeo content repository to interface seamlessly with the Liferay Document Repository, so that content, such as documents and images, from a Nuxeo Document Management or Digital Asset Management application, can be referenced directly by a Liferay web portal via the Liferay Documents and Media Gallery.
The new integration comes in the context of Liferay Portal 6.1’s improved document management capabilities, which allow enterprises to integrate multiple enterprise repositories, including Nuxeo, and manage and access their documents across Liferay applications. The Nuxeo Platform allows users to create, review, and manage documents, and CMIS enables this content to be accessed via Liferay Portal and other CMIS consumers. This additional interoperability with Liferay Portal means that content can remain in the Nuxeo repository, eliminating the need to copy documents from one tool to another.

Webnodes AS announces the release of version 3.8 of Webnodes Semantic CMS with MVC support

A new release of Joomla has been made available. Version 2.5.2 addresses two security concerns, namely an XSS vulnerability and an SQL injection issue. Users are recommended to upgrade immediately to the new release.

Joomla CMS version 2.5.2 released

OpenText (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC) today announced the general availability of OpenText Tempo and introduced Tempo Express Edition, a new offering that lets companies quickly set up a private solution for easily sharing and syncing content in the cloud. Both editions offer all the ease-of-use of consumer-oriented document sharing cloud services coupled with the rigorous records management and security required to meet internal policies and industry regulations.

With OpenText Tempo and Tempo Express Edition, organizations maintain absolute control over their content. But while the user experience doesn't change, all content is actually being stored behind the corporate firewall with a full audit trail, versioning and permission control.
OpenText Tempo Content Server Edition is designed to bring easy file sharing functionality to organizations currently using or investing in the full OpenText ECM Suite, and can work in conjunction with existing content applications and user interfaces.
OpenText Tempo Express Edition provides a self-contained Tempo environment that can be used alone or alongside other content repositories. This gives companies an “out-of-the-box” way to take advantage of simple and fast document sharing while still maintaining full control over where content is stored, and with the benefit of an advanced content management feature set.
Key features of both OpenText Tempo and Tempo Express Edition include:

OpenText Tempo was announced on a preview basis in November 2011 at the OpenText Content World customer event and made available to customers on a trial basis. New Startup brings new Admin, Monitoring & Doc Management to Google Apps
