Under terms of the completed transaction, Godengo  has acquired Texterity, a provider of digital magazines and mobile applications. Terms of the private deal were not disclosed.
The combined company provides services to more than 1,200 magazine titles owned by more than 500 publishers throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia. It is also the only technology-service provider in the space that helps publishers seamlessly transition, integrate, and enhance their content across multiple digital and mobile platforms, the companies said.
<blockquote>
“Godengo and Texterity have complementary expertise, specializations, and cultures, and together we’ll offer a level of functionality and flexibility to clients that is well beyond anything currently in the marketplace,” said Peter Stilson, Godengo’s President and CEO, who will lead the combined company as CEO. “The publishing industry has been looking for a true partner that can meet the full scope of needs in cross-platform digital and mobile integration, and now it has one.”
</blockquote>
Stilson added that a key objective of the combined company, which will be re-branded in the months ahead, is to continue to grow its capabilities. “We’ve just completed raising a Series C round of growth capital and will use those resources to expand and enhance our services and products.” Capital for expansion and facilitating the purchase of Texterity was provided by investors including New Science Ventures.
Carl Scholz, who is currently President of Texterity and previously served as the company’s chief operating officer, will become President of the combined company. Previously, Scholz worked at Houghton Mifflin Company, and also held management and software engineering positions at the Open Software Foundation, Interactive Systems Corporation, and NCR Corporation.
Martin Hensel, who founded Texterity in 1991 and has been at the forefront of the digital publishing industry for more than two decades, will advise the new company as part of his new consulting practice for publishers and media technology firms.
Texterity’s client roster includes Conde Nast, Meredith Corp., Oracle, Rodale, American Chemical Society, Harvard Business Review, IDG Communications, Crain Communications, and Entrepreneur.
In addition to developing digital editions of magazines, catalogues, and other publications, Texterity has strong expertise in building a mobile web reading experience and branded mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire, and Android devices.
“With the scope of expertise and capabilities that our combined organization has, we now have products and services to meet the needs of the more than 18,000 magazine publishers in the market,” said Carl Scholz, President of Texterity. “We bring together a wealth of professional experience in management, engineering, sales, project management, customer support, and finance. There’s no question that we’re poised for dramatic growth.”
While digital magazine formats are extending the reach of print editions and have been a positive development for the industry, key to continuing to attract digital subscribers is to focus on making the medium as interactive and user-friendly as possible versus just putting content onto websites.
This acquisition is surely the first of many to come as CMS solution providers look to woo publishers; many of whom are seeing  rapidly declining interest (and sales) in their print editions and formats; to their platforms.

Godengo and Texterity join forces to focus on Digital Publishing sector.

<a href="http://www.nuxeo.com/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Nuxeo</a> has announced a technology alliance with <a href="http://www.liferay.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Liferay</a><a href="http://www.liferay.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">, </a><a href="http://www.liferay.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Inc</a><a href="http://www.liferay.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">.</a>, provider of the enterprise-class open source portal.
Liferay has certified the Nuxeo Platform as a content source for Liferay Portal 6.1 Enterprise Edition (EE). Both software solutions, which are Java-based and open source, are compliant with the OASIS CMIS (Content Management Interoperability Services) standard. A CMIS-based connector enables a Nuxeo content repository to interface seamlessly with the Liferay Document Repository, so that content, such as documents and images, from a Nuxeo Document Management or Digital Asset Management application, can be referenced directly by a Liferay web portal via the Liferay Documents and Media Gallery.
The new integration comes in the context of Liferay Portal 6.1’s improved document management capabilities, which allow enterprises to integrate multiple enterprise repositories, including Nuxeo, and manage and access their documents across Liferay applications. The Nuxeo Platform allows users to create, review, and manage documents, and CMIS enables this content to be accessed via Liferay Portal and other CMIS consumers. This additional interoperability with Liferay Portal means that content can remain in the Nuxeo repository, eliminating the need to copy documents from one tool to another.
<blockquote>
“Liferay is pleased to partner with another document repository vendor that supports the CMIS standard,” said Mike Young, Liferay’s Chief Technology Officer. “The addition of the Nuxeo Platform as a content source for the Liferay platform is yet another win for our clients, who work with Liferay in mixed enterprise software environments and look to Liferay to simplify document management and access.”
</blockquote>
Nuxeo and Liferay also both support the OpenSocial standard, so the CMIS connector makes it possible to deploy gadgets from one to the other, such as to visualize a list of Nuxeo documents from a Liferay Portal instance, or to surface Liferay-based web content in Nuxeo.
<blockquote>
“This tested and certified connection with Liferay Portal is a compelling offer for our clients,” said Nuxeo CEO Eric Barroca. “The Nuxeo Platform is optimized for handling documents and content-centric business processes that are internal to an organization. With Liferay Portal, we offer our clients more options for how to manage documents and deliver them to portals, websites, and applications.”
</blockquote>
The connector is now available for both the Community and Enterprise Editions of Liferay. Contact Nuxeo or Liferay for more information, or <a href="http://www.nuxeo.com/en/about/events/webinar-liferay-nuxeo" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">register for the webinar</a> on April 11, 2012, for an interactive overview of the integration.

Nuxeo to Provide Compatibility with Liferay Portal

Standing Cloud Launches Cloud Deployment Platform for Drupal

Magnolia CMS 4.5 has been released and this is their largest upgrade to date. What does this new version bring with it? A host of new features including:
<ul>
<li>Instant mobile websites and mobile content previews</li>
<li>New content targeting framework with multichannel publishing</li>
<li>Openness and industry-leading standards support – CMIS interoperability with MS Sharepoint, Alfresco, Photoshop, SAP, Oracle and others</li>
<li>Improved ‘front-end editing’</li>
<li>Reduced development times – simplified, more efficient templating, HTML5 support</li>
<li>Updates to the Magnolia Blossom# Spring Framework</li>
</ul>
This release is focused on delivering an open platform for enterprises to deliver an evolving virtual presence. New functionality includes instant mobile websites and multichannel content targeting, along with increased standards support, interoperability and new features to enhance user-friendliness.
<blockquote>
“The most visible change for our users is the new mobile functionality that comes with Magnolia CMS 4.5. But this is just the first of many applications for our new multichannel content architecture,” comments Magnolia CTO and Co-Founder Boris Kraft.  “Multichannel publishing provides enterprises with a highly adaptable online presence. As the way people use and access the web changes, new channels can be created to cater quickly and efficiently to these new markets.”
</blockquote>
Multichannel Publishing: Agile Online Presence
Magnolia CMS 4.5 provides an open, flexible and standards-based platform from which users can present limitless channels. These channels deliver content that is optimised to specific target groups, locations, devices or any imaginable segmentation of website visitors. As such, multichannel publishing provides enterprises with an agile virtual presence, which enables them to be the first to capture new audiences on the web.
The system categorises web visitors, for example by device or location and directs them to the relevant content channel. Magnolia provides device detection functionality out-of-the-box. Developers can create their own detection functionality for channels based on location, language or any custom attributes.
<blockquote>
“Magnolia’s new mobile functionality is really just the initial implementation of our multichannel framework. With no limit to the levels of granularity and the number of channels, this new multichannel architecture opens up truly immense possibilities,” explains Kraft. “We foresee the development of new channel detectors, which will use CRM and even social media information to identify visitors’ interests. The multichannel framework then provides an enterprise scale delivery mechanism to serve optimised content.”
</blockquote>
Mobile
Magnolia CMS 4.5 produces instant enterprise-grade mobile websites from existing content within the system. All conventional websites built with Magnolia’s latest Standard Templating Kit (STK)# can be used to create mobile websites, which are automatically optimised to smartphone and tablet formats. As with all websites built using Magnolia CMS, the look and feel of mobile sites can then be fine-tuned to the most exacting branding and end-user requirements.
Complementing the mobile website functionality, Magnolia CMS 4.5 also introduces an innovative ‘mobile preview’ function. Authors can instantly preview the look and feel of content on either a smartphone or tablet. Mobile preview creates an on-screen mock-up of the relevant mobile device on the user’s desktop, allowing them to immediately optimise their own content for mobile site visitors.
Openness
Magnolia CMS 4.5 continues to put openness at the core of the product, with support for new enterprise standards, including Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS), the latest version of the Java Content Repository (JCR 2.0), HTML5 and Java 6.
CMIS: Having co-sponsored development of the standard, Magnolia CMS 4.5 now incorporates a standard CMIS application programming interface (API). CMIS now provides the accepted common data model for transferring content between content management systems and exchanging formatted content with broader enterprise applications. Its incorporation into Magnolia CMS 4.5 delivers interoperability with content-focused enterprise applications from vendors such as Microsoft (Sharepoint), Alfresco, Adobe (Photoshop), SAP, Oracle and a majority of the larger vendors in the space.
Second Generation JCR (2.0): With the move to JCR 2.0 for underlying content storage, Magnolia CMS has moved its API to the latest industry standard for content-focused Java applications. This provides secure interoperability with any tools adhering to the JSR-283 or JSR-170 standards, allowing bi-directional, privilege-based access and manipulation of data between applications. It also makes Magnolia CMS more familiar as a product for anyone in the Apache JackRabbit community.
Java 6 and HTML5: Support for these two updated industry standards (including HTML5 native video and client-side validation of web forms) is amongst a host of revisions in Magnolia CMS 4.5 that ensure the product is kept in sync with the latest, production-ready industry standards. Magnolia CMS now follows the latest best practice in Javascript, CSS and semantic HTML, and all standards are implemented within Magnolia CMS’ latest STK 2.0 and Blossom# implementations.
Faster Development Times &amp; Greater User-Friendliness
Magnolia CMS 4.5 also plays host to numerous usability upgrades for editors, administrators and developers:
Page editing has been made even simpler and more intuitive, empowering the users, whilst ensuring continuity through defined rules, corporate style and structures. Magnolia CMS delivers ‘inline editing’ in the main website with no need for content authors to use a confusing admin interface.
Once logged in as an editor, authorised users can simply click on the relevant section in the site to edit text and make changes. New content is created through clear placeholders in relevant sections, and content can also be moved quickly and easily using an intuitive user interface that guides the editor.
For developers, the new templating API changes the way Magnolia sites are written. The new API is not only more powerful but also faster, easier and more logical to learn. Primarily a technical change, for corporate users the API improvements also dramatically reduce the training, implementation and maintenance cost of Magnolia CMS.
Based on standard Java classes, the new API also allows the use/reuse of components built in other standardised templating languages such as Cold Fusion, in conjunction with, or even replacing, Magnolia’s own STK.

Webnodes AS, a company developing a .NET based semantic content management system, today announced the release of version 3.8 of their CMS, with semantic e-commerce, MVC support and several new mobile features.
<blockquote>
“This release is a very important release for us. It demonstrates our commitment on a number of levels, not only regarding semantic web technologies, but also more pure CMS improvements”, said Ole Gulbrandsen, CTO of Webnodes. “In our continued effort to maintain and improve developer efficiency, we have added support for ASP.NET MVC templates. To continue to be on the forefront of the mobile web we have added a range of new mobile features.”
</blockquote>
<h4>ASP.NET MVC template support</h4>
ASP.NET MVC (version 3) has become a very popular method for developing web sites and applications on the .Net platform. With this release of Webnodes CMS, templates can now be developed using MVC. Webforms and MVC are equally supported for template development in Webnodes, and both will continue to be supported in the future. You can also mix the two types in the same project.
<h4>New mobile features</h4>
Webnodes CMS now has built in features for mobile web development. The framework enables developers to write separate templates and to easily customize a version of the website for mobiles. An extendable mobile detection method has been added as well as specialized user interface controls to make mobile web development as simple as possible. The CMS editor interface also has a new mobile preview mode that lets you see how a page might look on a typical smartphone.
<h4>E-commerce module v3.0</h4>
New in this release is version 3.0 of the e-commerce module in Webnodes CMS. This version continues the rapid introduction of new features the module has seen since inception. Our development team has rewritten the provider system, decoupled the payment system, improved the user-interface, added dynamic attachment support and restructured the email notification system.
The improvements have focused on improving the user experience for editors and improving the already class leading extensibility of the module.
<blockquote>
“Real-world projects have shown us how much our customers appreciate that they can tailor our e-commerce offering exactly to their needs,” said Fredrik Thrane Holst, CEO of Webnodes AS. “The market is responding very well to the combination of our e-commerce engine and our semantic technology. E-commerce is one of the areas where semantic search really makes the difference. We’re excited about working with our partners in developing cutting-edge e-commerce solutions, that increases sales and articulate the value proposition for our customers.”
</blockquote>
<h4>E-commerce starter site</h4>
Together with the new version of the e-commerce module, we’re also releasing a new advanced e-commerce demo and starter site. The new demo site is called “The Webnodes Shoe Store”. It shows you how you can build a sophisticated e-commerce site in Webnodes with the help of some of the hot new technologies like SignalR, which uses web sockets from HTML5 for real-time interactive product search.
Building on the release of Webnodes with Schema.org support that we announced in November, the templates in the e-commerce demo also contains Schema.org markup for improved traffic from search engines.
<h4>About Webnodes CMS</h4>
<a href="http://www.webnodes.com"> Webnodes CMS</a> is a unique .NET based web content management (WCM) system powered by an ORM-based semantic content engine. It has been designed for the future of content management where taking advantage of structured content and the semantic web is a key to delivering value to the customer.

OpenText (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC) today announced the general availability of OpenText Tempo and introduced Tempo Express Edition, a new offering that lets companies quickly set up a private solution for easily sharing and syncing content in the cloud. Both editions offer all the ease-of-use of consumer-oriented document sharing cloud services coupled with the rigorous records management and security required to meet internal policies and industry regulations.
<blockquote>
“Secure publishing, sharing and syncing information across multiple devices is clearly resonating with users, hence the emergence of cloud-based services on the consumer side. For enterprises, however, the consumer cloud is just another way for information to get lost or into the wrong hands,” said Eugene Roman, Chief Technology Officer of OpenText. “Tempo combines consumer-level usability with enterprise-level reliability and security. It will fundamentally change the tempo of how information is used, shared and stored by enterprise users.”
</blockquote>
With OpenText Tempo and Tempo Express Edition, organizations maintain absolute control over their content. For users, the experience and functionality is similar to popular file sharing services with full desktop integration and easy access to synchronized content from mobile apps on all the most popular devices. But while the user experience doesn't change, all content is actually being stored behind the corporate firewall with a full audit trail, versioning and permission control.
OpenText Tempo Content Server Edition is designed to bring easy file sharing functionality to organizations currently using or investing in the full OpenText ECM Suite, and can work in conjunction with existing content applications and user interfaces.
OpenText Tempo Express Edition provides a self-contained Tempo environment that can be used alone or alongside other content repositories. This gives companies an “out-of-the-box” way to take advantage of simple and fast document sharing while still maintaining full control over where content is stored, and with the benefit of an advanced content management feature set.
Key features of both OpenText Tempo and Tempo Express Edition include:
<ul>
<li>Transparent integration into user desktops, including sharing with internal and external users</li>
<li>Ability to synchronize content across any number of computers, tablets, and other devices, ensuring that users always have the latest copy of documents</li>
<li>A simple Web interface for managing file information, setting permissions or sharing files</li>
<li>A flexible deployment model that allows organizations to manage OpenText Tempo entirely on-premises or, drawing from patent-pending technology and cloud-based hosting, choose a hybrid model that allows organizations to maintain control of the information but offload the effort of maintaining the service to OpenText</li>
</ul>
OpenText Tempo was announced on a preview basis in November 2011 at the OpenText Content World customer event and made available to customers on a trial basis. The initial feedback from customers has been strongly positive about the intuitive user experience across Web, desktop computers and mobile devices.
<blockquote>
“The Tempo Web interface is very intuitive. Documents are easily and quickly accessible, and sharing is effortless,” said Christoph Hammerl, Consultant Archiving Services, Voith IT Solutions GmbH &amp; Co KG. “I'm able to access Tempo from my iPhone and the Web client and both ways work like a charm. Congratulations to everybody on the Tempo team. In my opinion Tempo is what Steve Jobs would have referred to as “insanely great!”
</blockquote>
Koen Michiels of Delaware Consulting added, “Tempo is instant and convenient. The Windows desktop client is fast and intuitive and the mobile iPhone app is very fast and user friendly.”

Effortless File Sharing, Sync Come Together with an Enterprise-Class Infrastructure to Accelerate Business "Tempo"

Revevol, which has already deployed more than 700,000 Google Apps licenses in 17 countries and 4 continents, has announced the creation of Revevol Apps, a new subsidiary based in San Francisco dedicated to developing web-based applications that will help more mid- to large companies migrate to Google Apps.
Revevol Apps will be run by CEO Stéphane Donzé. Donzé was formerly head of research and development at Exalead, a search-based application company acquired by Dassault Systemes for $160 million in 2010.
Revevol Apps products, which will be announced in the coming months, will focus on administration, monitoring, document metadata management, user experience and integration across applications. Revevol Apps products will allow customers to take full advantage of the cloud’s power to dramatically improve their operational efficiency, productivity and overall performance.
Revevol Apps products are being developed on Google App Engine, Google’s Web platform designed to build and host applications. Google App Engine allows for fast development, simple administration and effortless hosting of web-based applications – including applications designed to integrate with Google Apps for Business. This cloud-based and native integration results in an optimized user experience with an excellent level of security and performance provided by Google’s infrastructure.
<blockquote>
“As a specialist in cloud computing technologies, we see Google App Engine as the most advanced, flexible and agile platform in the market,”said Stéphane Donzé, CEO of Revevol Apps. “Capitalizing on years of experience, our parent company, Revevol, has identified user demands that are not currently covered by existing products. The creation of Revevol Apps allows Revevol to address these needs as a software publisher. Revevol Apps looks forward to working with Google to help even more companies take advantage of cloud computing.”
</blockquote>
By offering a new range of innovative applications that complement Revevol’s technology partner product portfolios, Revevol further facilitates the migration to Google Apps.
“By launching Revevol Apps, we are seeking to augment and complement our existing catalog of products and services, rather than competing with the excellent solutions we are already selling with our technology partners. Our goal is to exceed our clients’ expectations by focusing on a strong synergy between our expertise, Google Apps and the applications we will be building. Revevol Apps will make it easier for businesses to move more quickly and easily to the cloud,” says Laurent Gasser, CEO of Revevol Group.
About Revevol Revevol Apps is a new U.S. based subsidiary of Revevol. Revevol advises and assists clients in their adoption of Cloud technology. New Startup brings new Admin, Monitoring & Doc Management to Google Apps

Sitefinity CMS 5 has hit the web with a selection of cutting edge mobile tools! This release delivers enhanced mobile features to manage web content uniquely adapting it to display appropriately on desktops, tablets and smartphones. Out-of-the-box, Sitefinity 5.0 integrates a responsive design approach that empowers a marketing end-user to define rule-based web pages that dynamically adapt to different size screens. No more updates of multiple content versions of the same website or “exception” only coding is required by a developer.
Utilizing Cascading Style Sheets support for CSS3 media queries, content from the same source page will automatically resize and selectively display as appropriate on the screen of a desktop, tablet or smart phone. The marketing end-user can preview the page layout on numerous smartphone and tablet devices through the built-in device emulators to ensure page elements are displayed properly, and layout and design are preserved.
<blockquote>
“In most CMS solutions, the challenges of supporting different display sizes required explicate hand coding and developing and testing of multiple website versions for different mobile devices.” said Martin Kirov, executive vice president of Sitefinity, Telerik, “Sitefinity is the first web content management platform to integrate responsive design, allowing Sitefinity developers and marketing end-users to easily define the appearance of content depending on the device. This is extremely powerful and strategic approach considering that mobile traffic is expected to continue to increase dramatically.”
</blockquote>
The Sitefinity 5.0 release also provides a new Forums module used to organize forums and threads, and manage membership and moderators. It also supports advanced posts search.
The Sitefinity Thunder plug-in for Visual Studio allows developers to create and maintain themes through the familiar Visual Studio environment. With Sitefinity Thunder developers will connect to their websites and will be able to easily create, modify and deploy their customizations.
New enhancements in Sitefinity Ecommerce will allow merchants to sell downloadable goods and digital products. End-users (non-developers) can upload the digital media (i.e., PDF, MP3, MP4, etc.) they wish to be protected using a Sitefinity’s web interface; set a price and Sitefinity will manage the authorization details.
With the new Windows Authentication support and Single Sign-on, Sitefinity website administrators managing an array of internal systems and multiple websites will be able to easily control the access and authentication process in their organizations.
Sitefinity 5.0 offers a seamless upgrade from previous Sitefinity 4.x versions. Sitefinity 3.x clients can take advantage of the integrated Sitefinity migration tool to upgrade to the latest version.
