Despite the Gala Dinner from <a href="/jahia-one-2015-day-one/">Day One</a> running into the early hours, the Jahia team still managed to put on another exciting show on Day Two of JahiaOne 2015.Attendees got to see Jahia show off some of their latest projects, before a number of high-profile customers took to the stage to laud the vendor's technological heroics.Here's a summary of all the best bits of Day Two.<h2>Marketing Factory &amp; Commerce Factory</h2>Jahia love themselves a factory.During Day Two, they seized the opportunity to formally announce and demonstrate their latest project and “killer app”, Marketing Factory.Senior Vice President Clement Egger presented the project, which he claimed was filling a glaring gap in the market.“Marketers are in pain”, the executive asserted, pointing out that marketing suites were either too simplistic and weak, or too broad and confusing for the average marketer or marketing team. Marketing Factory, he claimed, had been designed to bridge the gap.<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/img_2909.jpg" /> He walked us through a demonstration of some of Marketing Factory's core features, giving everybody a taste of how it tackles visitor profile building, segmentation, interest capturing, and other aspects of the personalization process.We also got to look at how the platform handles and presented stats and facts to marketers.<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/img_2907.jpg" /> It's also worth noting that Marketing Factory doesn't require Digital Factory, and can thus be used on any project, along with any other platform.Despite not being totally finished, Marketing Factory looked impressive. We're looking forward to seeing the finished product before the end of 2015.In a later presentation, Clement Egger (who was now almost stealing the show!) once again presented another Factory to the audience, Commerce Factory. This time though, he was accompanied on stage by his wife and Jahia's Senior Consultant, Wanda Egger.<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/commerce683x0-is-hidpi.jpg" /> I personally thought it was a nice touch to have the couple present together. It reminded the audience that despite being an internationally recognized technology vendor, Jahia is also a human effort, propped up by real people and relationships.Clement Egger openly admitted that Commerce Factory was indeed first announced at JahiaOne 2014, and he also admitted that, a year on, it is still yet to be released.However, he claimed that the delay was for the best, as Jahia understandably wanted such a vital product to be as polished as possible before release.His wife Wanda took us through a detailed demonstration, completing a transaction on-screen and showing off some of the back end capabilities.<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/logo-commerce-factory-476x90.png" /> Commerce Factory is set to offer features designed to help merchants with cross selling and up selling, and also serves up bundle features, Google Shop exporting, a recommendation engine, and more.The new release date for Commerce Factory is Fall 2015 – yet another Jahia product we're looking forward to.<h2>Workspace Factory 3.0, Customer Testimonials &amp; Free Certification Exams</h2>Wanda Egger also took us through what is set to be the latest edition of Workspace factory, formerly known as Jahia wise, which is the vendor's document sharing and professional collaboration solution.Her presentation revealed that Workspace Factory 3.0 will have a release candidate in July 2015, approximately two weeks after the general release of Digital Factory 7.1.More Jahia customers also got to sing the company's praises during Day Two, with the National Governors Association and Delta Faucet detailing their Jahia journeys.Furthermore, Jahia also offered up a totally free certification exam during the course of the day.In fact, a relatively large number of hands shot up when Christopher Justice, Jahia's new head of Marketing, asked to see a show of hands for those about interested in sitting the exam. A positive sign for the future of the platform, no doubt.<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/2015-06-11_07_38_02530x0-is-hidpi.jpg" />With the closing keynote, Jahia turned another page of its current, buzzing chapter. <a target="_blank" href="http://www.jahia.com/products/digital-factory">Jahia's</a> second international conference kicked off in sunny Paris yesterday, and it wasn't short of appeal.Mike Johnston and I were in attendance, <a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/cmscritic">live-tweeting</a> all the best bits as they happened under the <a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/JahiaOne?src=hash">#JahiaOne</a> hashtag while soaking up the nerd-friendly atmosphere.Before the conference began, Mike also got to sit down and interview both <a href="/cms-critic-interviews-christopher-justice-of-jahia-ahead-of-jahiaone/">Chris Justice</a> and <a href="/cms-critic-interviews-emmanuel-garcin-of-jahia-ahead-of-jahiaone/">Emmanuel Garcin</a>, discussing Jahia's recent growth, current projects and future aspirations.Here's how the first day of Jahia One went down.<h2>Looking Back on Jahia's Recent Achievements &amp; Preparing For Future Innovations</h2>Just as he did at Jahia One 2014, Elie Auvray, Jahia's CEO and Co-founder, kicked off the proceedings with a welcoming keynote.He spoke of Jahia's growing role in the CMS industry, and expanded on Jahia's focus on building an ethos based upon, “Convergence, Resilience and Commitment”.<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/img_2863205x0-is.jpg" />Elie Auvray went on to single out Ben &amp; Jerrys (a Jahia customer) as one successful Jahia case. He told of the company's need to adapt and provide for its growing mobile audience, particularly in the far east.Based on this example of what used to be nothing more than an Ice Cream company, Elie made the call that technology was no longer classed as its own industrial sector. Rather, he asserted that technology was now an integral part of almost every sector in existence.Gene Phifer from Gartner followed up with a presentation of his own, delving deep into how technology is still surprising us — as well as how it will continue to surprise us.<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/2015-06-11_10_27_44649x0-is-hidpi.jpg" />He spoke of how companies are already using beacons and geofencing to engage and market to customers, the future of 3D printing, smart medical devices, and so forth. More importantly though, he touched on how this technology would impact industries like the healthcare and transportation sectors.The Gartner veteran eventually linked this all back to the growing need for user experience platforms like Jahia to help companies sell experiences, and not just products.<h2>Forms, Cars &amp; Jahia On Your Wrist</h2>Day One of JahiaOne was also host to a presentation of the upcoming Jahia Digital Factory 7.1, given by Senior Vice President Clement Egger.<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/2015-06-11_11_37_14727x0-is-hidpi.jpg" />Scheduled for release before the end of June, Digital Factory 7.1 brings about features like easy module duplication, “work-in-progress” statuses for unpublished (designed to relieve confusion between multiple editors), improved elastic search, better tag implementation and multi-language publishing.This was followed by a demonstration of Jahia Form Factory, by Stephane Monier, Jahia's VP of Business Development EMEA.Jahia customer Europcar was also present, represented by David Roux. He discussed Europcar's online presence before and after Jahia, detailing the key differences and benefits brought forth by the Jahia platform and support team.He highlighted the launch of 15 websites in 15 different countries within just two days as the most impressive example of how Jahia helped evolve Europcar's online presence.Perhaps the most interesting presentation though, came from Jahia CTO Serge Huber.In an impressive display of technical versatility, Jahia has rapidly responded to the release of the Apple Watch by releasing <a target="_blank" href="http://www.jahia.com/apple-watch">a rather tidy integration</a>. Serge Huber demonstrated the Apple Watch Jahia integration live at the event.<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/img_2797545x0-is-hidpi.jpg" />He showed off some handy functionality, including managing and replying to comments, highlighting the convenience of dealing with spam while on the move.Serge Huber stressed that all good Apple Watch apps should refrain from asking you to take out your iPhone in order to make use of the app itself. This was obviously the case with Jahia's integration, which seemed to work extremely well entirely on its own. However, that's not to say that a “Handoff” feature wasn't available for those wanting to continue comment management on their iPhones.<h2>Sailing on The Seine</h2>To cap off the first day of Jahia One, Jahia invited all attendees aboard a boat for a Gala Dinner.The charming vessel cruised through the waters of the Seine river, which flows through the heart of Paris.<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/2015-06-11_22_20_53727x0-is-hidpi.jpg" />The food was excellent, the atmosphere was friendly, and the views were stunning. Fortunately for everybody on board, night happened to fall just as the boat floated past the Eiffel Tower, giving everyone a beautiful close up view of the tower lighting up as the sun gradually set.Before the boat docked, Mike Johnston presented Elie Auvray with Jahia's recently claimed awards from the 2014 CMS Awards here at CMS Critic.The awards won by Jahia were the <a href="/2014-critics-choice-award-winner-best-java-cms-for-small-to-midsize-business/">Critic's Choice for Best Enterprise JAVA CMS for Small to Midsize Business</a> and the <a href="/2014-critics-choice-award-winner-best-enterprise-java-cms/">Critic's Choice for Best Enterprise JAVA CMS for Enterprise</a>. Following its tradition of naming versions after their favourite restaurants, BuddyPress 2.3.0 has been titled after “Chez Livio”, an Italian Pizza specialist in Paris, France.
Version 2.3.0 comes bundled with a number of noteworthy features.
<h2>New Avatar UI, Better Blog Media Handling &amp; More</h2>
First up, BuddyPress users now have better control over avatars, thanks to a new interface.

Craft CMS 2.4 - Chock full of Improvements and Additions

<a href="https://processwire.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ProcessWire</a>, the open-source PHP platform, has some updates well worth noting.
CMS Critic itself is powered by ProcessWire, an exciting product that was recently <a href="/2014-critics-choice-award-winner-best-free-php-cms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">crowned winner of the 2014 Critic's Choice Award for Best Free PHP CMS</a>.ProcessWire 2.6.1 has been made the new master version, pushing ProcessWire 2.6.2 to the dev branch with all new field-level access control and overrides support. Let's dig a little deeper.
<h2>What's New With ProcessWire (Version 2.6.2)</h2>
Updates including the <a href="https://processwire.com/blog/posts/processwire-core-updates-2.6.1-and-more/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">page editor reminding you to save your work</a> have been made to vesion 2.6.1, making it the latest master version of ProcessWire.
Version 2.6.2 is now the latest dev release, which adds the following:
<h3>Field-level Permissions: A Whole New Level of Granularity for Built-in Access Control:</h3>
The introduction of field-level permissions into 2.6.2 has been labeled as a “big announcement” by the ProcessWire team.
Until now, permissions have been managed at a template level, meaning essentially that the superuser can decide which roles have view and/or edit access to any given template.
Because permissions are inherited from the parent page to any other pages using a template that doesn't define its own permissions, this system should be both simple and (relatively) flexible. Various 3rd party modules already provide features for users wishing for more control than the template-level access control system can offer, but lately, we've also seen increasing amounts of requests for a more granular core-level access control system.
This latest core update brings very similar access control to the fields themselves, meaning that instead of giving a specific role edit access to a template as a whole, you can actually specify which individual fields a given role can view or edit.
Additionally, these settings can be redefined on a per-template basis, giving superusers a whole lot of new control over how site content is managed (or viewed, for that matter).

<h3>New Overrides Tab: Improves Manageability of Per-template Changes (Or Overrides)</h3>
Another new addition to ProcessWire 2.6.2 also affects fields.
When editing a field, there's a new tab by the name of “overrides”, and what this tab contains is a list of all the per-template changes made to the settings of the current field. Per-template values are displayed right next to global ones, making this view very easy to read and understand.
Not only does the overrides tab allow you to see changes made to field settings, but it also allows you to remove them if you so choose. Especially considering the new per-template field-level permissions, this new tool can really come in handy!

<a href="https://business.pinterest.com/en/buyable-pins" target="_blank">As Pinterest announced</a>, Buyable Pins will start appearing across desktop, iOS and Android devices within coming weeks. To spot them, just look out for Blue.

The Blue “Buy it” button lets consumers checkout and pay for products they discover on Pinterest. Currently, Apple Pay and credit cards make up the only two payment gateways.
To sell products on Pinterest as a Shopify users, all you need to do is add the new Pinterest sales channel to your Shopify account. Buyable Pins: Shopify Teams Up With Pinterest

When it comes to choosing a LMS (<a href="/search/?q=learning+management+" target="_blank">Learning Management System</a>), the choice is usually based on a number of criteria, making it a seemingly overwhelming task.
However, if you keep your eyes peeled, you will see that most vendors provide similar opportunities and features (testing, reporting, live conference, communication capacities etc).

But really, the key difference lies in the LMS installation type and it is one of the primary points that should be taken into consideration while choosing LMS. Why? Let’s figure it out.
<h2>Learning Management Systems Come In Two Types:
</h2>
<ul>
<li>SAAS (Software as a Service) or Cloud LMS (other titles are “on demand” and multitenant);</li>
<li>Installed LMS (“on premise”, deployed, licensed or in-house).</li>
</ul>
The key difference is that in the first case LMS is offered as a service and is hosted on the vendor’s servers while in the second one – as a product and is run on the servers within the company’s network.
So, why the installation type is a primary criterion? The reason is that the two above mentioned LMS types require completely different technical experience, hosting capacities, resources, company’s structure, budget and implementation goals. That is why it seems pretty logical to decide which of two types to choose and only then consider other points such as scalability, reporting capacities or others.
Let’s look closer at each eLearning software type, its benefits and disadvantages.
Cloud Or SAAS LMS SAAS LMS represents a network of remote servers hosted in the Cloud. All the clients purchase access to separate parts of standardized LMS version, run the same infrastructure and are charged monthly depending on the number of registered/enrolled users and the features necessary. The learning is delivered via browser from anywhere and anytime. SAAS LMS is a great solution if you don’t run your own website
The main benefits of acquiring on-demand LMS is no need to carry out the LMS installation and maintenance. The LMS deployment is done quickly, no need to have any hardware infrastructure or employee resources to manage the software. It means no back-ups, upgrades or licenses (everything is done directly by the LMS vendor).
However, there are Cloud data storage risks and higher total cost of ownership in the long-run period.
On-Premise Or Installed LMS Installed LMS is a software that is stored on the servers that belong to the company. The buyer acquires a license (usually annual) and after the purchase the LMS software becomes his property. Initial set-up and maintenance are internal staff’s concern (usually vendors offer installation services for an additional price). The owner has full control of LMS software and it is more cost-effective in the long-run.
The main benefits of in-house LMS are high customization opportunities, security of stored data and third-party extensions integration. 
However, in comparison with hosted LMS, the installed LMS initial deployment and maintenance requires much more time (especially when customization is necessary), resources and technical experience. In some cases, additional staff training is required.
When to Choose a Cloud LMS?
Hosted (SAAS) Learning Management Systems is an ideal solution for small companies that don’t possess necessary internal resources (both hardware and staff) and need to implement LMS and start delivering knowledge quickly without any delays.
Cloud LMS solution is to a large extent standardized and can be rarely customized or integrated with third-party extensions. That is why if the company prefers scandalized learning approach, then SAAS LMS is exactly what is needed.
One more case, when SAAS LMS is preferable, is when the company is not sure whether eLearning approach is the one and doesn’t want to invest a lot of money (hosted LMS solutions are characterized by lower initial investments.
When to Choose an On-Premise LMS?
Installed LMSs are usually chosen by large companies that have internal resources for LMS implementation and maintenance. Another case is security restrictions for storing proprietary or sensitive information (banking, financial organizations).
As on-premise LMS software can be highly customizable, it is widely used for unique idea realization (in most cases such ideas are more likely to pay off than standardized ones). 
Installed LMS Software, though it requires more significant initial investments (license, installation, customization, hosting, employee training etc.) is much more economic when considering a period of 3 years and more. As studies show, the bigger the company gets, the more it inclines to choose in-house LMS as it acquires necessary infrastructure, IT resources and expertise.
Plus, if the company already hosts another management software such as talent management or HR (which is typical for huge corporations) the implementation of one more system doesn’t involve any difficulty.

As we see, only one point, such as LMS installation type, is capable of dividing all the eLearning software available on the market into two different groups that suit various business needs, budget and experience.
