Kentico has been helping to shape the CMS landscape for almost two decades. A timeline on their website suggests that the company was born prior to 2004, out of the senior thesis of Petr Palas – Kentico's founder and CEO. It even spins lore about this hallowed thesis living on a floppy disc somewhere, presumably in an underground vault, where it acts as the company's "lucky charm."
A lot has happened in CMS since Kentico became a market-leading solution, but they've always managed to forge their own path through innovation. Most recently, a big part of that innovation has been focused on their <a href="https://kontent.ai/" target="_blank">Kontent by Kentico</a> enterprise headless solution. 
To that end, the company has just unveiled some new and notable functionality in the Kontent platform, including advanced asset management, central oversight of users, and other updates that significantly improve the way content operations are managed and governed. Kentico shared these new features – as well as a number of industry insights and best practices for content professionals – at <a href="https://horizons.kontent.ai/?utm_source=pr&amp;utm_medium=link&amp;utm_campaign=pr-november-2021&amp;_ampl=9f080f5c-6c7f-4ee7-8f19-93b7f5b84159R&amp;_ga=1547659104.1636408894" target="_blank">Kontent Horizons</a>, a free virtual event that took place last week.
This past September, Kontent also became the first and only certified enterprise <a href="https://www.cmscritic.com/top-free-headless-cms-platforms/" target="_blank">headless CMS</a> available for purchase through Microsoft Azure Marketplace and AppSource for customers with the Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC). 
With these investments in the growth of their Kontent platform, it's clear that Kentico has doubled down on providing large-scale headless content operations for enterprises. 
<h2>Focusing on headless at the enterprise level</h2>
Content is at the core of every digital experience, and the headless model is enabling an omnichannel approach to scaling content to almost any endpoint. That said, when large volumes of content are being delivered through many channels, managing that content can quickly become a nightmare. This is especially true at the enterprise level.
Supporting large-scale content operations continues to be a key focus for the Kontent team. With the recent news about their Microsoft Azure affiliation, Kentico is enabling customers to make use of the Azure Marketplace for easy and secure discovery, implementation, and management of Kontent as an integral solution in their enterprise-grade microservices architecture. 
“We’re delighted to work with Microsoft as the only headless CMS on Azure Marketplace," said Martin Michalik, VP of Product at Kontent by Kentico. "It’s great that we can provide customers a way to get the most business value out of their consumption commitments.”
<h2>Enhancing scalability</h2>
As more businesses look to transform their content delivery through the headless model, Kontent by Kentico is experiencing exponential growth. In 2021 alone, global giants like Algolia, Wolf Oil Corporation, and Zurich Insurance joined Kontent’s enterprise customer base. 
“As our customers continue to evolve their digital strategy, how to scale up efficiently is still a top-of-mind concern," said Monica Raszyk, Director of Product Marketing at Kontent by Kentico. "More users, assets, and content can certainly be seen as an opportunity – if managed well. That’s why these past few months, we worked closely with our customer base to specifically address their complexities of scale. With the recent platform updates, content teams can now more easily organize and manage assets using taxonomies, keep workspaces secure with complete oversight of users, or quickly review complex content items.

This year’s free virtual conference was designed for a growing global audience of content professionals and web development experts – and featured a wide range of topics, including omnichannel content, user experience, website architecture, and more. 
With over 1,000 attendees, the three-day event was focused on helping teams strategize around the challenges of 2022, with insightful sessions led by industry experts such as Colleen Jones, President at Content Science, Jason Lengstorf, VP Developer Experience at Netlify, and Nick Barber, Senior Analyst at Forrester. 
<h2>New Kontent features</h2>
As mentioned, Kentico unveiled a number of new features in Kontent, including a <a href="https://www.cmscritic.com/kentico-kontents-new-user-interface-streamlines-enterprise-content-operations/" target="_blank">new user interface</a> to help enterprise teams execute their content operations faster. 
One of the other noteworthy upgrades is the <a href="https://kontent.ai/specials/collections?menu=true" target="_blank">Collections</a> feature, which lets enterprises manage all their content in a single repository. This allows the content to be shared across teams and channels without losing any control.

<h2>What's next for Kontent</h2>
Some of the biggest challenges that enterprises face are the sheer scale of content and the number of users spread across an organization. Headless has helped to expand the omnichannel capabilities, but there are still significant headwinds, particularly around previewing content destined for different endpoints. 
Continuing to invest their focus on enterprise content management, the Kentico Kontent team aims to deliver even more improvements in the areas of content operations, advanced asset management, and custom multiple workflows. It's clear that they have a strong commitment to innovation, and we can expect more on the horizon when it comes to enhancing the headless experience.

<a href="http://virtuemart.net/" target="_blank">VirtueMart</a>, one of the most successful eCommerce solutions for <a href="http://www.joomla.org/" target="_blank">Joomla</a>, has just released its newest version, VirtueMart 3.
Compatible with Joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3, the open-source eCommerce solution has undergone “thousands of man hours” in order to make it compatible with Joomla 3, clean up the architecture, increase stability and performance.
VirtueMart concede that, “looking superficially at VirtueMart 3 it looks and works almost as VM2”. However, they say that the feeling and handling of the platform is different. Let's take a look at what they mean.

VirtueMart 3 Released

The Google Analytics App for <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/google-analytics/id881599038?mt=8">iOS</a> and <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.giant&amp;hl=en_GB">Android</a> just got an update; and it looks pretty damn good.

Although the app has been well received on Android devices, Google has struggled to please iOS users, achieving a meagre 1.5 star rating on Apple's App Store.
This update though, should change that.

The tidier interface puts reports on scorecards, making them easier to view, and easy to swipe past. Each one shows a few top metrics on the fly, allowing you to tap for more details.
Users can delve into segments, configure their own segments, view data by date range, and create their own reports before saving them to the dashboard.

<h2>Share Your Data</h2>
Furthermore, each individual scorecard can now be shared with others via text and email.
So, you can forward important metrics and discoveries to other team members through your favorite email client, all from your mobile device.
This feature is probably the best part of the update.
After all, the goal for all mobile analytics apps should be to make it simpler to view and act on new data. Google seems to have recognised that with this update by making it easy for teams to share information directly from the app, no matter where they are.
I'm happy with this update On top of making it easy to communicate new finds with other team members, it's going to streamline the act of checking your website data on the go; and if you're an obsessive stat-checker like me, you'll likely be excited to try it out.

During the 2012 Adobe Digital Marketing Summit, the Press and Industry Analysts had an opportunity to ask questions of three of Adobe's top executives; Kevin Lynch (CTO), Shantanu Narayen (CEO) &amp; Brad Rencher (SVP &amp; GM).  Here is a summary of some of the most interesting questions asked during the Q&amp;A:
Q: What Adobe is planning to do to bring customers up to speed with their products given that most customers are far behind where they should be with regards to digital marketing?
A: We are investing heavily  in go to marketing and training and are aiming to sell a full solution. They stated that many organizations not happy with where they are and are looking for help, hence this conference. Adobe is also running other events that are playing a key role as well.
It was stated that Adobe made the move early to digital and now spends 74% of their marketing dollars on digital. On average, most companies spent 24-25% on digital marketing. They believe they can do demand generation and branding which is controversial in the field. They do CMO round tables and lunches, etc. and often get frustrated with peers not embracing digital as they should be.  To help, they are going out to schools, talking to students and holding conferences like this to help bring people up to speed.
Q: Whom does Adobe consider their competitors in this field?
A: While Google is a big player they are also a big partner. Google has a platform they are providing but his team feels their platform is more expansive and will continue to be a leader in this category. IBM has looked at it from an IT point of view, while Adobe's focus is on the marketer, advertiser, publisher, which they feel is more effective. Brad commented that marketers are forced to be system integrators, which they don't want. Adobe's belief is that there should be technologies for the marketer and they plan to be that stack of technologies.
Q: How has the Omniture purchase worked out for company. What do you see for the future of the Omniture side of the company?
A:  We are thrilled with how the acquisition has gone. We are on the path for leadership in this digital marketing category and this is all a combination of Day, Adobe, Omniture and our other acquisitions, which have helped position us as a leader.  Omniture was a cornerstone acquisition.  When we think of acquisitions, we think of them as a way of getting technology and great people. We don't look at it as just the Omniture business.
Q: What approach does Adobe have on mobile apps and web browsing?
A: The fastest growing segments from measurement and content management are mobile and video. CQ5.5, the WCM component of their WEM (web experience management) product is designed with the web in mind but also for the mobile applications.  They are very much focused on mobile and their apps are continuously being adopted to work regardless of the user interface or device being used.

Press Q and A with Adobe Executives at the Adobe Digital Marketing Summit

If you've never heard of <a href="http://ghost.org"> Ghost</a>, you should do yourself a favor and take a look at their website. Ghost is a very interesting and unique new tool for blogging that has recently completed a very successful <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/johnonolan/ghost-just-a-blogging-platform"> Kickstarter campaign</a>. Initially requesting only £25,000 to help fund their creation, they ended up raising almost £196,362.
When I first heard about Ghost, I was excited about the prospect of a new blogging platform coming online that might be able to serve a new set of future bloggers with an interface designed purely for blogging. WordPress, although a very capable platform, has simply started to move out of the “just a blogging tool” arena and into a broader market, offering up a great set of tools for creating other types of websites such as those for business, etc. While it's still a great blogging platform, this is no longer it's only purpose and having a tool specifically for just blogging that does it well and beautifully, is certainly appealing.
I'm also a huge fan of simplicity and minimalism (one of the reasons I switched CMS Critic from WP to <a href="/products/processwire/">ProcessWire</a> not too long ago), so when I saw how beautiful the Ghost interface was going to be, I had to jump onboard and become an early adopter.

After watching the video and seeing the passion that John has for his project, I had to try it. I decided to install Ghost on my personal blog, which I've been meaning to get up for quite some time. While the process right now is incredibly complicated (for someone with no technical experience), once I got it up and running, I was able to quickly see why Ghost has such potential. Not only is it incredibly fast running not on Apache or PHP but rather <a href="http://nodejs.org/"> node.js</a>. To get an idea of how the install process works, I've written a post addressing how to get Ghost up and running on a VPS through <a href="http://www.servint.net/index.php?refid=DFC839039622"> ServInt</a>, whom I use as my web host of choice for CMS Critic. <h2>The Interface</h2>
What I particularly like about Ghost is how simple it is. In the video, you'll see they have a beautiful dashboard showcased. This isn't complete yet so if you choose to test Ghost out now, you won't be able to see it but it's planned to be released within the coming months. What does work is the publishing interface and yes, it's missing some functionality given that this is an early development release but they are making progress quickly.

Pretty simple isn't it?
What I like the most is the way that Ghost handles writing. The way it works is you write in the left pane in Markdown Syntax (which is super easy to use by the way) and on the right, everything is previewed live.

It's an elegant. yet simple interface that feels good to write with. In fact, I dare say it made me want to write more often just to use the interface.
Is it done yet? No, it still is in the development process although it's most certainly usable for those of you who, like me, have no patience and like getting their hands dirty. They are planning to launch the hosted version of their platform within the next few months along with the cool dashboard you saw in their video around the same time.
Ghost has some amazing potential and considering they are not in it for the money, but rather to make the web a better place for bloggers, they've got my support. If you are tech-minded enough and feel you can handle the process of trying out Ghost, give it a try. Alternatively, you can wait for their hosted version to come online in the next few months.

<h2>A fresh design approach</h2>
At first glance, Kontent’s new visual design is quite different from the previous. It is more modern and appealing, sporting an array of vibrant colors with plenty of contrast to emphasize important elements. Overall, it feels more “app like” in its appearance, which projects a more mature experience.

As previously noted, the new UI is designed to help enterprise teams find what they need and share their content across other departments. The updated design helps deliver on that promise by simplifying a familiar framework – allowing users to make the leap with limited friction.
<h2>Kontent Collections</h2>
Originally branded as Kontent Projects, one of the new upgrades in the latest release is the <a href="https://kontent.ai/specials/collections?menu=true">Collections</a> feature – which lets enterprises manage all their content in a single repository, allowing the content to be shared across teams and channels without losing any control.
Having a single repository brings multiple benefits. First and foremost, it eliminates content silos that lead to inconsistent brand standards and content duplication. It also centralizes governance around configurations, content models, and policies.
One of the biggest content challenges for enterprises is the sheer scale of content and the number of users spread across an organization. This is especially true for organizations with multi-national websites that need brand consistency across global regions.

Kontent’s Collections offers centralized governance, where organizations can set user access in a single location. This minimizes the complexity while providing greater flexibility for different teams with varying requirements.
With Collections, organizations can:

You can also create collections for teams, regions, websites, microsites, initiatives, and even cross-platform content hubs.

After you create a collection, you can configure access to it by assigning roles to individuals. This includes read access to global content, editorial access to team content, and more.

With the upgraded <a href="https://kontent.ai/specials/collections?menu=true">Collections</a> feature, teams can share content items across departments, websites, and experiences to ensure consistency and eliminate error-prone duplication. The goal is to improve efficiency and minimize the frustration that many enterprise content teams experience.
Kentico also features noteworthy capabilities like <a href="https://kontent.ai/specials/simultaneous-editing">Simultaneous</a>, which allows multiple editors to work on the same content without worrying about overwriting each other’s changes, and <a href="https://kontent.ai/blog/in-context-editing-the-best-way-to-update-website-content">In-Context Editing</a>, which lets editors update the website content right within the pages of their preview site.
