WebStarts Review - The CMS for Anyone

After realizing that some of my personal websites had been infiltrated by malware, I decided to use the services of <a href="http://wpfixit.com/" target="_blank">WP Fix It</a>, a company that pledges to quickly remove malware and fix any issue on a WordPress website.
Founded in 2011, WP Fix It have been cleaning WordPress websites for five years, and they have a fairly good reputation for it.
To date, they have serviced over 43,000 tickets from almost 6,000 customers, and they promise to fix any WordPress issue, or give you your money back. You can't say fairer than that.
So after reviewing their website and reputation, I decided to go with their <a href="http://wpfixit.com/product/malware-virus-removal/" target="_blank">malware removal service</a>. Plus, I thought I'd document my experience in order to review WP Fix It. Here goes.
<h2>Getting Started</h2>
Instead of going straight to the checkout, I wanted to chat to a WP Fix It representative to explain my situation. I emailed them using their website's live chat system (all their support staff were busy, so email was my only option).
Thankfully, I received a response quite quickly (within forty-five minutes), and had all my queries answered. The support staff I dealt with were polite and responsive throughout our email discussion, which ended with me processing my payment for their malware removal service.

To kick start my malware removal process, I paid through their website and was directed to a ticketing service, where I filled out some details along with the login credentials to my hosting account. They wanted my WordPress login details too, but after I explained to them that access to the website had been totally restricted, they got to work without those passwords without flinching.
WP Fix It kept me posted through emails, asking me questions about specific files, and telling me what they were working on. It was all very professional, and very reassuring.
At one stage, they saw fit to delete some files which I saw no use for – but they still added them all to DropBox and gave me seven days of access in case I wanted them back – which was thoughtful of them.
<h2>The Results</h2>
Eventually, they told me that their final infection scan was underway – and although it would take a while – everything came back clean. I also checked my sites using the renowned <a href="https://sitecheck.sucuri.net//" target="_blank">Securi website security scanner</a> website security scanner and received the all clear. Score.
They had cleaned up my sites, and they also installed the <a href="https://sucuri.net/wordpress-security/wordpress-security-plugin-installation" target="_blank">Securi WordPress plugin</a> to keep it that way. To finish off the job, they sent me an email with a list of highly recommended tasks (including password changes for my FTP and hosting panel) that would help ensure the security of my sites.
At the time of writing, days have passed since the guys at WP Fix It healed my websites, and they're still going strong.
Plus, the WP Fix It website ensures a re-clean should the malware return within 90 days. So, I feel like my websites are pretty safe and sound right now.
<h2>Pricing</h2>
For malware reoval, WP Fix It charges $87 per WordPress install, which is quite reasonable, considering that they ensure a clean website and 90 days worth of support/re-cleaning if necessary.

Rival malware removal service providers like <a href="https://wpsecuritylock.com/services/wordpress-malware-removal/" target="_blank">WP Security Lock</a> charged a whopping $497 per WordPress website. <a href="http://securepress.org/malwareremoval.php" target="_blank">SecurePress</a> on the other hand, charges $79 per website. My own website hosting company also quoted me $249.99.
So if you ask me, WP Fix It is ticking all the boxes in terms of pricing, too.
For more general WordPress website fixes, WP Fix It charges a fee of $37 per website, which is also very reasonable.
<h2>The Verdict</h2>
Removing malware from any website can be a nightmarish process. Thankfully for me on this occasion, WP Fix It made it sublimely simple.
In the past, it's a task that has either consumed days of my time, or way too much of my money. But WP Fix It did the job in less than 24 hours for a very decent price.
WP Fix It's support staff were polite, helpful and quickly to respond to my queries – and their helpful advice after the cleanup process was also came in handy.
<h3>Pros</h3>

<li>They keep you posted every step of the way via email</li>
<li>If files need deleting, they'll back them up for you on DropBox</li>
<li>They install the <a href="https://sucuri.net/wordpress-security/wordpress-security-plugin-installation" target="_blank">Securi WordPress Plugin</a> to maintain your site's security</li>
<li>They send you an email with tips and recommendations that they encourage you to follow in order to preserve their security work.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Cons</h3>
<ul>
<li>They don't seem to offer a multi-site discount, which may sting you if you have run multiple websites on the same hosting account.</li>
<li>Their website is a little on the tacky side, which is a shame, because their service is impeccable.</li>
</ul>
Overall, it's a giant thumbs up from me. Kudos to the guys over at <a href="http://wpfixit.com/" target="_blank">WP Fix It</a>!

WP Fix It Review

The free PHP open source CMS, <a href="http://processwire.com/" target="_blank">ProcessWire</a>, has made some announcements to do with its latest project.

ProcessWire 3.0 Alpha 1 is here, with promises of its own namespace, multi-instance support, and more. There have also been improvements made to the current version of ProcessWire, <a href="http://processwire.com/blog/posts/processwire-2.6.20-and-surprise-processwire-3.0-alpha-1/" target="_blank">via version 2.6.20</a>.
As far as a release date is concerned, the ProcessWire team has simply said that a stable release won't be available until spring 2016.
<h3>What's New with ProcessWire 3.0?</h3>
At this early stage, ProcessWire 3.0 is identical in functionality to the current dev branch (2.6.20).
However, it differs greatly on the code side:
<ul>
<li>ProcessWire 3.0 runs in its own PHP namespace. Previous versions of ProcessWire ran in the root namespace.</li>
<li>It supports the ability for modules to optionally use alternate namespaces. Modules that use dedicated namespaces also benefit from more autoloading options.</li>
<li>Multi-instance ProcessWire support is partially there already, though not quite ready for you to use just yet. What is multi-instance support? That means you can have one script that's issuing API calls to multiple installations of ProcessWire, different databases, and so forth.</li>
<li>ProcessWire have done a lot of code cleanup, getting rid of old-style API calls, deprecated methods and more.</li>
<li>Composer support is partially there and in progress.</li>
</ul>
According to ProcessWire, “the above [list] is how this version is different now, but of course there's a lot more on the way”.

Artificial Intelligence has long been a popular trope in the sci-fi genre. Most of us could rattle off a string of films about machines gone amuck, from 2001: A Space Odyssey to Ex Machina.
The stories are almost always identical: Humans create AI. The world marvels at its promise. People check out. AI becomes self-aware and decides humans need to be exterminated. Epic battles ensue.
And it’s all downhill from there.
While advancements in real-world AI have been profound, they’re a far cry from the popcorn pop-culture dystopias we see in the movies. Sure, there’s trepidation, but no threat of total machine domination (we hope). And AI models like <a href="https://openai.com/chatgpt" target="_blank">ChatGPT</a> – which has captured the moment's zeitgeist – are already proving their value in multiple use cases. 
Generally speaking, the AI features being added to CMS platforms show promise, not peril. At the same time, they’re fraught with challenges – and if there’s one Schwarzenegger-level threat suffering from a bit of time dilation, it might be the customer experience. Compounded by pressure to seize the opportunity and a need to remain in competitive lockstep, many AI features have been rushed to market at hyperbolic speed.
But what makes them different? And are they really delivering value? That depends a lot on how a user creates content in a CMS.
When I was in Europe last month, I met with <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/nehasampat/" target="_blank">Neha Sampat</a>, <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/conoregan/" target="_blank">Conor Egan</a>, and <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/susancbeermann/" target="_blank">Susan Beerman</a> – the leadership team at Contentstack. One of the discussion topics was Contentstack's new AI Assistant, which I had previewed and found quite compelling. I wanted to dive deeper, so they sent me to the source: Senior Product Manager <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/masters/" target="_blank">Christine Masters</a>.
Christine’s bailiwick is Emerging Products, where she’s working on the front line of innovation. Her months-long mission to launch Contentstack’s new AI features has yielded dynamite results, and she gave me a guided tour. We also talked about the big challenges the market is wrestling with, and how Contentstack's approach to generative AI – from content to code – is supercharging their composable DXP.
<h2>Mastering product management</h2>
Christine joined me on Zoom from her home in Iowa – an easterly track from her California roots, but a more temperate 80 degrees on an otherwise sweltering summer day.
“I remember 119 degrees,” she reminisced. It’s worth noting that the <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/californias-death-valley-sizzles-near-record-temperatures-as-brutal-heat-wave-continues#:~:text=The%20hottest%20temperature%20ever%20recorded,as%20keeper%20of%20world%20records." target="_blank">record in Death Valley</a> is 134, which makes 80 sound downright cool.
And cool is precisely the right word for Christine. She's easygoing, confident, and genuinely passionate about her work. From an experience perspective, she's a fluent industry stalwart that’s seen the evolution of content into the digital realm, starting in print at a newspaper in Fort Wayne, Indiana – where she used tools like QuarkXPress.
After operational roles in media, she managed CMS platforms at BLOX Digital, focusing on digital transformation for media applications in cloud and SaaS. She later became a senior director of core platforms, where she conducted focus groups to help build better CMS experiences.
Coming from a more traditional monolithic CMS background, Christine brings an unmatched perspective to her work in Emerging Products, specifically with Contentstack’s new AI features. The company <a href="https://demandgenreport.com/features/news-briefs/contentstack-adds-openai-chatgpt-integration-to-its-platform" target="_blank">announced</a> its ChatGPT integration in late March, relatively early in the hype cycle.
The new AI initiative was ambitious, enabling in-line user extensions that assist in creating brand-specific content in seconds. The stated capabilities were simple but powerful: editors would be able to quickly publish summaries, outlines, metadata descriptions, keyword-optimized blogs, and more – all by using prompts. But that was just the beginning.
In April, Contentstack <a href="https://community.contentstack.com/podcast-media-and-more-81/introducing-contentstack-live-383" target="_blank">hosted a webinar</a> introducing its ChatGPT connector and the future of AI-driven composability. The messaging established that the company sees AI and automation technologies touching virtually all facets of the digital experience stack – transforming content creation, code development, and asset creation.
Quite a charter, and one that will keep Christine busy for some time to come.
<h2>Understanding customer concerns with AI </h2>
Death by PowerPoint is a common fatality in the tech world, but Christine offered a single yet poignant slide before diving into the demo – one that crystallized the key challenges most companies face when considering AI. This educational entry point has become common for her.
“We’ve had a ton of interest, but a lot of concerns as well,” she said. “Many companies are asking, what should we be doing with AI? I’ve been on maybe 30 or 40 calls not just consulting, but talking and listening to their concerns. Some people are much more AI-friendly, and some are very nervous. There’s kind of this fear that when we let ChatGPT in, it’s going to suck up all our data to learn things and use it elsewhere, even with my competition.”
It’s a real concern – and one I’ve heard repeatedly from platforms and users. Will my company’s proprietary content become fodder for the training model? Or will <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/3/23/chatgpt" target="_blank">another bug</a> allow my competitors to see my chat sessions?  
I asked Christine how Contentstack is assuaging these fears. She quickly pointed out that their new service taps the ChatGPT API, but none of the data is being trained by the broader model. Additionally, only prompt data is stored for troubleshooting purposes and cleared out after 30 days. All of these tactics meet <a href="https://gdpr.eu/" target="_blank">GDPR compliance</a>, providing greater assurance around data privacy.

That said, OpenAI has become a powerhouse tech company with more than 100 million users, making it a prime target for hacking. Last month, <a href="https://mashable.com/article/chatgpt-stolen-accounts-passwords-dark-web" target="_blank">Group-IB reported</a> that thousands of ChatGPT login credentials were leaked to the Dark Web, forcing Google and other companies to warn employees not to add sensitive information to the large language model. Contentstack addresses some of these risks with a combination of optimization and policy.
Accuracy is another blocker, and ChatGPT’s well-documented <a href="https://www.securityweek.com/chatgpt-hallucinations-can-be-exploited-to-distribute-malicious-code-packages/#:~:text=The%20issue%20is%20related%20to,information%20that%20may%20look%20plausible." target="_blank">hallucinations</a> have caused significant challenges to trust. “Sometimes it sounds very convincing, but it’s a total lie,” Christine added. “You need to make sure you have humans at the right step, particularly if it’s content created from scratch.”
Given this, Christine focuses on the use cases where ChatGPT excels, such as creating short summaries from longer-form content or extracting keywords. “We’ve been doing things like this for years now, so it’s become table stakes,” she said, noting that AWS has been making AI scalable for quite some time with products like <a href="https://docs.aws.amazon.com/managedservices/latest/userguide/rekognition.html" target="_blank">Amazon Rekognition</a>.  
But what is novel are the prompts being used to simplify and execute – and how Contentstack is harnessing its automation capabilities to streamline AI at exactly the right places in the content creation experience.
“That’s where we’re coming from with these products,” she punctuated.
<h2>Conjuring content with AI Assistant </h2>
Contentstack’s ChatGPT integration has two main products it intersects with: AI Assistant and Automation Hub. The combination of the two provides a unique ecosystem of capabilities that enriches the generative creation of content and the automation and streamlining of its entire AI workflow.  
As Christine pointed out, an important distinction with the AI Assistant is its nature as an app in Contentstack’s composable ecosystem. I knew other platforms had instrumented their AI with a more coupled architecture, so I asked her to elaborate on the advantages.
“One really great thing about our CMS is the extensibility,” she explained. “You can build your own apps and modules to extend the capabilities through a marketplace approach. With monolithic CMS platforms, you might keep adding features – but after ten years, it gets bloated and filled with toggles. By extending CMS through apps, you can keep it agile and lean.”
With the AI Assistant being an app, Christine began her demo in the most logical place: the installation process. This is critical, as users can choose to connect ChatGPT using their own API keys, or use Contentstack – which is free. In either case, the whole piece is painless.

Inside the tool, there are lots of pre-configured features that allow you to build prompts for almost anything. You can add a pre-defined set of icons that conform with your brand standards or build custom prompts aligned with your organization’s content style. (Sidenote: <a href="https://learnprompting.org/" target="_blank">prompt engineering courses</a> have now emerged to help assist users with this new skill. Go figure.)
In Contentstack’s AI, the prompts can get very granular. For example, a customer can enter explicit instructions like when to use associated trademarks or which competitor should never be mentioned. 
From a UI perspective, the AI Assistant “lives” where the content writer creates new entries, enhancing the experience without disrupting the editorial flow. The whole experience is lightweight and elegant, and reflects thoughtful analysis of where the elements should co-exist. Users can interface with the tool via custom actions already configured for spelling and grammar, then add functions to write summaries, extract keywords, and even provide translations. 
As Christine pointed out, writers and editors aren’t typically creating content from scratch with AI. In most cases, they use it to augment their writing in different ways.
“As a quick example, let’s say I want to write a blog post about something,” she said. “You can use our pre-built Idea Generator to create ideas and use custom prompts to be in the tone and voice of your brand. Most of the time, writers want ideas and outlines, so they have more control.”

From a success standpoint, Christine offered some experience-based advice about prompting, explaining how the assistant can produce better and more accurate results when properly fed. This includes prompt curation around overused terms that might seem cliché or incompatible with a brand’s voice.
“You might tell ChatGPT to ‘make it more exciting’ and it returns words and phrases like ‘trailblazing’ or ‘revolutionary.’ Everything can start to sound the same. ‘In the realm of digital experiences’ is another example that you see out there. These would be my guidelines for what not to use.”
Looking at the prompt capabilities, I asked if there was a plan to make the customizations more repeatable and sharable. Christine said that’s on the roadmap – along with other features.
“We really want to make sure that we’re providing something very useful for our customers they can actually use.”
<h2>Adding some magic with Automation Hub</h2>
The 1-2 punch of Contentstack’s AI offering is the unique combo of AI Assistant and <a href="https://www.contentstack.com/automation-hub/?creative=650999267431&amp;keyword=contentstack%20automation%20hub&amp;matchtype=p&amp;network=g&amp;device=c&amp;campaign=19810684522&amp;adgroup=146523337843&amp;placement=&amp;utm_campaign=fy24-glob-dg-automation-hub-us-ca&amp;utm_medium=paid-search&amp;utm_source=google&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjwwvilBhCFARIsADvYi7L-bNoQPTRPXR4ba5lah7uPBz6xovMlmKayTKrMh-G4nO9xaoVQ8XUaAuRDEALw_wcB" target="_blank">Automation Hub</a>.
If you’re unfamiliar with the service, it’s an existing feature of the Contentstack DXP that delivers an easy, no-code solution for streamlining business processes. It starts with a trigger or action and allows you to define a specific workflow using a graphical interface – which is incredibly lithe and intuitive. The tool is designed to help simplify the complexity of integrations and automate routine tasks. 
“Now [with Automation Hub], you can build up a series of automated steps with the ChatGPT connector, which brings in an automatic prompt trainer,” Christine described. “It’s a webhook with a trigger – like publishing a new article – and you build steps afterward that are API calls or snippets of code performing functionality.”
According to Christine, Automation Hub is ideal for applications like translations, where ChatGPT can be automatically tapped to return languages based on specific fields and requirements. ChatGPT does a decent job with translations, and there’s already broad market trust with third-party tools like <a href="https://www.weglot.com/" target="_blank">Weglot</a> that leverage AI.

In just a few minutes, she demonstrated how simple it is to activate the "ChatGPT for Translation" automation in the UI and configure both the connector and the associated actions. Once the translation was completed, we even added a step with Slack, automatically letting team members know the task was completed. Pretty slick. 
“Summaries, keywords, translations – if you do something a hundred times over and you never have to change it, this can take the place of people. But you always want a human in the loop knowing what’s going on.”
In an upcoming version, Christine mentioned that users will be able to add in multiple prompts, but also specific function calls via API or http connections. For example, ChatGPT could be harnessed to tap a stock or sports score database at 9 AM and send an email to a list of recipients in a pre-defined format.
“Text enhancement is really the starting point,” she said. “I can’t wait to get this into the hands of more users. I don’t think we’ve even started to think about the cool ideas they’ll be able to implement.”
<h2>What’s ahead for Contentstack and AI</h2>
We’ve been on the ChatGPT “hype train” for well over six months now. I asked Christine how the landscape is unfolding, particularly with similar offerings from other platforms. She agreed that competitors are driving AI in a commoditized direction, but that Contentstack’s app architecture – and its focus on streamlining and automating processes – is unique.  
So what’s driving that value quotient for customers in these early days?
“We’re seeing a lot of use with things like extracting keywords, tapping language translations,” she motioned, “but there are also cost savings when you consider replacing other tools for things like SEO optimization. And if you’re using our Contentstack API keys, it’s even free.”
Free is good, but will it last? Christine did suggest that large organizations will likely opt to use their own ChatGPT keys – and if more translation is required, costs may increase with the scaling token requirements. But it's clear that Contentstack sees its AI features as a value-add, and having a free entry point is a smart move to build adoption. 
Based on the demo, there’s ample room to streamline the clicks required within Contentstack's AI experience. This is where Automation Hub really sings, delivering both efficiency and control to users. As she noted, it’s the “boring” integrations – the undifferentiated heavy lifting – that Contentstack is endeavoring to supplant. By doing so, users can focus on building high-value, high-utility apps and experiences. You know... the cool stuff. 
“Whatever you trust AI to do, we can automate that,” she declared.

All challenges aside, the introduction of AI in CMS platforms has tremendous potential to improve productivity for content editors and developers. I’ve always contended that AI should stand for augmented intelligence, because it’s really about enhancing our creativity and productivity – not replacing it.
“Humans are great at the interesting things,” Christine observed.

First up, fourteen new layouts have been unveiled, with a range of experiences being catered for.

Card, Flash, Gazette, and Mission on the other hand, are the more generic options.
Existing Squarespace Cover Page layouts have been updated, too, with brand new imagery, new font choices, and background colours that automatically match user uploaded images. Plus, Squarespace has revisited each layout in terms of its mobile responsiveness.
I'm personally a fan of these Cover Pages. They can add a new dimension to your typical Squarespace website.
However, I feel it may have been wiser for Squarespace to release layouts directly complementary to existing Squarespace themes, so that users can keep their design as consistent as possible. With the current system, it could become a case of mix and match, with varied results.

It’s the only platform of its kind that celebrates content management systems and related vendors across the market – from small to large – and highlights their innovation and service.

Good news: nominations are now officially open! You’ll have until January 20th, 2023 to submit your favorite platforms using the form on our website.

The tour can be delayed or dismissed, and you can take any of the available guided tours again if you ever want. Every time you create a new admin account, the new user is greeted with the tour. You can check if your team members have taken their tour, how far they progressed, and you can reset the tour for them if you feel they need to take it again.
<h2>Creating a New Page</h2>

Creating a basic page is a lot like WordPress. From the main page of your Control Panel you select “My Pages”, and then when you see the list of all your basic pages you click the big “Add” button. This provides you with a simple form that lets you set a page title, a friendly URL, and page content. You can use a WYSIWYG editor to layout a page yourself, or you can use some of the prebuilt layout options under the “Extras” tab to set a heading, sub heading, pull out quotes, info lists, secondary content, etc. And the result is a page that looks carefully designed. You can have a designer create custom pay layouts that can be applied for different purposes.

There are a lot of pre-designed content types that let you enter a few fields of data, and then Gutensite creates a page layout with images, headers, description, comments, sharing, slideshows, video, file downloads, etc. The default layouts are beautiful, and you can have a designer create custom layouts for each content type if you need something special.

So if you want to create a team page, you simply go to the Profiles icon in your Control Panel and create a new category page called “Our People”. Give it a friendly url like /Our-People, and under an advanced tab you can control a lot of different display options, decide if you want a list format or an image grid, etc.

Then you can add individual team members one by one and associate them with the “Our People” page. You can enter basic profile information like name and bio, as well as contact information, slideshow, files, and even associate the team member's calendar. The result is a beautiful team page that links to the details for each team member.

They make sure their team is empowered to do whatever it takes to help you accomplish your goals and they want to make sure you never feel frustrated when calling. You can tell they are serious about proactive support because they don't bury their contact information in a dark corner, but give it prominence on the Control Panel Dashboard. They actually want you to call, and they will even help you transfer or set up your site. If you are on their Pro package you get a <a href="http://www.gutensite.com/Features/Dedicated-Webmaster-Assistant?refcode=CMSCRITIC" target="_blank">dedicated webmaster assistant</a> that you can call or email requests to and they'll add pages, update menus, upload photos or videos, or whatever you need. And it's free.

They seem to understand that many small businesses are overwhelmed by the options and are too understaffed to create and maintain a value-driven website on their own. In addition to phone and email support, Gutensite also has guided tours, tutorials, how-to knowledge base, community forums and live Twitter Q&amp;A.
<h2>Noteworthy Administrative Features</h2>

After using the control panel for a little while, you begin to realize there is a ton of power tucked away in subtle “Advanced” tabs and special tools. Here are a few of the things that will come in handy:

<li>Multiple Administrators. Add an unlimited number of team members with different editing roles.</li>
<li>Content Staging. Make simple or complex changes to your by setting the status of any content (pages, menu, promo modules, etc) to “Staging” or “Deactivate on Staging Sync” and then preview how your site will look before pushing everything live at once.</li>
<li>Preview Designs. Preview how new designs will look for your website before switching. Use in conjunction with Content Staging to make sure that the content is compatible with the new design.</li>
<li>Enhanced Lists. Drag records to reorder. Click words to edit directly in the list. Click icons to toggle status or delete individual records, or select multiple records to perform group actions.</li>
<li>SEO. Control everything that you need to optimize your site for search engines, e.g. keywords, descriptions, metadata, friendly urls, etc.</li>
<li>Shortcuts. Create friendly shortcut links to any page on the site.</li>
<li>Custom CSS, Javascript, Metadata. Add custom css, javascript or metadata to interact with third party tools on any site, control search engine access to specific pages, etc.</li>
<li>Custom Design Shells. Set special design templates for special landing pages, or for entire sub-sections of your site.</li>
<li>Header Images. Set single or random image headers on individual pages, or for entire sub-sections of your site.</li>
<li>Custom Page Layouts. Choose alternative page layouts for basic pages or specific content types.</li>
<li>Gutensite FX. Add simple classes to elements in your content to create interactive FX, e.g. sliders to show and hide parts of the page when you click a link/button.</li>
<li>Member Accounts and Private Content. Create custom access keys for your members and restrict access to pages or files based on those keys. Set menu links to be hidden if visitors don't have the correct access level.</li>
<li>Account and Sales Tracking. Track new account and sales referrals, which page was last visited, which promo codes were used, etc.</li>
<li>Analytics. Integrate with Google Analytics and other third party optimization tools.</li>
<li>A/B Testing. Alternative Page Versions for A/B testing or delivering custom content based on referrals.</li>

<h2>A Few Other Features to Love</h2>

<li>Dynamic Home Page. The home page allows for a lot of dynamic content, linkable image slideshow, tons of promo modules, social media links, interactive image buttons, contact information, welcome text, logo, etc.</li>
<li>Content Types. Adding beautifully designed pages to your website is easy with pre-designed content types, e.g. blogs, forms, link lists, profiles, portfolio, maps, video library, FAQ, MLS property listings, Shopping Cart and Online Store, etc. (<a href="http://www.gutensite.com/Features/Popular-Website-Features?refcode=CMSCRITIC" target="_blank">see a full list of content types</a>).</li>
<li>Custom Display Options. There are tons of options to customize how lists are sorted and limited, which elements are displayed on a page, what size images should be used, when articles should be published, how menus should work, etc.</li>
<li>Promo Modules. Add custom promotional modules to your home page, sidebar, or integrated with page content, e.g. calendars, slideshows, link lists, search, account login, featured videos, latest blog, image buttons, Subscribe to Newsletter, etc.</li>
<li>Search Engine Site Map. All sites publish their full content map to search engines for better indexing.</li>
<li>Private Intranet for Collaboration. For those that need a private intranet, Gutensite provides a lot of productivity and collaboration tools in a private intranet, that includes a CRM, Project Management, Task Management, Hourly Reporting, Creating of Quotes, File Sharing, Management of custom billing types, and more.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Gutensite is Not Ideal for…</h2>
Gutensite is optimized for creating websites for professional businesses and non-profits. You can easily create a simple portfolio site or a blog on their platform, but there are definitely other platforms that are better for the hobby website builder and which are more streamlined for just displaying art or writing blogs (e.g. Tumbler, Wix, WordPress).
Gutensite makes websites that are HTML5 compliant and their control panel is also accessible on mobile devices, but the control panel is not optimized for mobile resolutions yet (although they are working on it). So if mobile management is absolutely critical, look elsewhere.
Gutensite has a robust framework that works for many enterprise level sites that started simple and grew over time (some eventually migrating to independent servers). But because it's a shared platform, it's not ideal for large corporations or companies that are developing a fully customized platform for their own online product.
<h2>Gutensite is Great for…</h2>

In summary, Gutensite would be a great platform for a wide range of websites, from simple brochure sites to enterprise, mission-critical websites that need advanced customization. It has the cost advantages and the simplicity of a shared hosting website builder, but it's a platform that can grow with you, because like an open source CMS literally anything can be customized. Gutensite for those that value good design and need customer support or a dedicated webmaster.
<h2>Design Agency Partnership</h2>

<h2>Collaboration brings new opportunities for ButterCMS</h2>
ButterCMS is a provider of headless, API-first content management solutions. Founded in 2017, the platform helps customers draft, manage, review and publish dynamic marketing content to websites and online apps.

Tiugo Technologies, a PSG portfolio company, also <a href="https://www.tiugotech.com/news/tiugo-technologies-cksource-acquisition" target="_blank">acquired CKSource</a> in May 2022.

Tiugo did not disclose any of the acquisition's financial details for ButterCMS. That said, the company does expect to acquire additional software brands in 2023.
