SendPulse is a marketing platform that offers plenty of options such as a selection of email templates, reporting, a drag and drop builder and more but is it a good marketing platform to consider using? Read on to find out in this SendPulse Review.
It's easy to get started with SendPulse, simply sign up for free on their website and you can begin sending emails. Upon your first login, you will be greeted with the dashboard.

The process is pretty straight forward so I'm not going to show screenshots here as it would be unnecessary. Once complete, it's time to create your first campaign. To do so, click Create a Campaign.

As you can see, I've selected the list I created and have filled in the sender info and subject line. I now have a choice between using a basic layout structure or choosing one of their built-in templates.

In this instance, I'm going to use the basic layout structure and build my own email. Upon choosing it, I'm taken to the builder screen.

I have to admit, I really like the builder. I've seen quite a few but this one seems to be the cleanest looking and offer quite a few options, which I was happy to see. To use it, simply drag and drop the modules from the left wherever you want them to show up. You can then modify the email body using the options on the right or the individual element itself by clicking the tab Current Element.

I'd prefer to see it wrap or hide some of the options until needed. Otherwise, it works without issue. Once you are satisfied, it's time to send your email. You'll be given the option to customize the sending process as needed below.

<img src="https://cmscritic.com/ms-content/uploads/2023/08/sendpulse_review_-_9.png" />For basic users, there are three types of Automations you can select from as you can see above but SendPulse does offer something called Automation360 which is basically a more advanced automation system for Pro users. In this instance, I'll go with the basic option and select Triggered Email. Upon selecting, you are taken to the automation screen where you can begin to create the automation flow.

You can choose to automate based on three sending conditions and creating the flow is easy and fast. As I mentioned, if you need more advanced options, you'll need to sign up as a pro user.
Now let's take a look at Sign-up forms. SendPulse offers 4 types.

That's about it folks. There are plent of options available to work with and I feel as though SendPulse is pretty much on par with most other email marketing platforms as far as how their system works. Where they differentiate themselves is in their other product offerings such as the ability to send Push Notifications to Firefox or Chrome browsers and SMS campaigns. Both are available at an extra cost but the pricing seems reasonable.
One area they did surprise me on is their email marketing plan pricing. It's very well priced as shown below:

This usually is an indicator that the sending service has been flagged for sending spam emails and isn't a good sign. If your customers aren't seeing the emails, there's no use paying for the service. Your results may vary but I would recommend trying to send a sample campaign to yourself while on their free plan before upgrading, just in case.

Acquia today announced the selection of Michael Sullivan as Chief Executive Officer, effective in December 2017. Sullivan, 52, has extensive experience in building market-leading, high-growth SaaS organizations and has led the acquisition and integration of numerous companies over the course of his career. He brings to Acquia 25 years of focused experience in content management, archival solutions, electronic discovery and enterprise content governance solutions, and joins Acquia as the company marks its 10th anniversary as a pioneer in cloud-based, open source web content management.
Sullivan joins Acquia from Micro Focus, where he participated in the merger of Micro Focus with Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s software business. The combined company became the world’s seventh largest pure-play software company and the largest UK technology firm listed on the London Stock Exchange.1 Sullivan was responsible for the information management and governance product portfolio both at Micro Focus and at HP, where he was senior VP and GM for SaaS. Prior to joining HP, he led the Protect business unit at Autonomy, which delivered risk and compliance solutions to Fortune 1000 companies. He joined Autonomy through the acquisition of Zantaz, where he was senior VP of operations and services. Sullivan was the founder and CEO of Steelpoint Technologies, a pioneer in technologies for the intelligent management of unstructured information.
He will succeed Tom Erickson, as part of the succession plan announced in May. Erickson will continue as a member of the board of directors. As part of the succession plan, Acquia Co-founder Dries Buytaert will be elevated to chairman, and will serve in that capacity in addition to his duties as CTO. Buytaert is also founder and project lead of Drupal, the open source web content management system he created in 2001.

Building your own opens all kinds of possibilities, from custom paint jobs to unique wheel trims, tinted glass, and 24-speaker stereo systems. However, once your new car is out on the streets, nobody will know it was custom-built, unless you have tiger stripes or an orange car bra added.
Building a website is the same. You can use a website builder, or you can use a CMS such as WordPress to create your site. The crucial point is that customers can’t tell the difference and don’t even care as long as you can help them with their problems.

WordPress can build anything, from a single-page author’s site to a 92,000-page authority site on the Solar System. And if you intend to create a gigantic and ever-growing authority site with multiple authors, a membership area, and an auction site, then you are probably better using a CMS rather than an instant site builder.
<h2>WordPress Is Complicated</h2>
Building a site with WordPress is the equivalent of building your car by choosing from 7,641 options in 97 different categories. You can do it, but it takes longer than just selecting a vehicle from a dealer’s stock. WordPress isn’t the perfect CMS that fans would have you believe. WordPress sites are customizable, but you need to know what you are doing. WordPress CMS enthusiasts would have you believe it is easy to build a website using the free WordPress software. It is easier than building a site using HTML, PHP and Java code, and you can have a website of sorts live in a few minutes, but it won’t look good, and it won’t be customized with your images, colors, and logo. Sites built using a non-proprietary CMS like WordPress or Drupal can be ported to another hosting service. Websites built on one host’s site builder are impossible to switch to another host: You have to throw them away and start again if you change web hosting companies.

There are two common ways to build a website; using site building software or using a content management system (CMS) like WordPress. If all you need is a simple site, and you need it quickly, a free website building program is a great way to get it. If you are prepared to wait for your site, or you have someone in-house who is expert at using WordPress and weighing up the pros and cons of different hosting services, then WordPress is the way to go.

First things first: stop bugging your staff.

Improvements in the clarity and simplicity of your writing are low-hanging fruit—avoid clichés, cut out the acronyms, use subheadings and bullet points, write concisely.
<h2>Make Sure To Measure</h2>
All of our tips above could be leading you astray.
There’s only one way to know—measure the success of your updates. Unfortunately <a href="https://blogs.iis.net/">60% of organizations</a> have no measures in place for the effectiveness of their internal communication. Management 101 mandates that in order to manage or influence any aspect of your business, there needs to be a measure. You’re reading this article now because you want to improve your internal communication, so get measuring!
There are a few easy ways to dive into measuring the habits of your readers. Measure participation by looking at unique user logins per day. Peak times of day when readership is at its highest will be revealed by tracking when posts are opened. This kind of insight will allow you to publish important updates at the best time possible, ensuring they receive the attention they deserve. To understand which content is engaging your team the most, you can measure how long readers stay on a certain page, or which articles are shared the most.
Here’s a quick look at the most common types of measurement:

<li>Engagement: Has your update created conversations? What level of activity is there in the comments section?</li>
<li>Relevancy: What were you trying to achieve with your article? Were you trying to spread a message wide, or get answers to a specific question—and did this occur? </li>

The days of static news are gone—today, social networks have empowered everyone to participate and interact with the news. Research has shown that as many as <a href="http://www.niemanlab.org/2015/07/new-pew-data-more-americans-are-getting-news-on-facebook-and-twitter/">63% of Facebook and Twitter users</a> get their news from social networks. Over half of millennials view social networks as the most important source of news in their lives. Engage your employees by harnessing this trend.
Rather than news being a one-way transaction, create a dynamic conversation. The principles of social media still apply in a business context. Allow employees to create, comment, share and interact, and they will feel included and engaged, viewing your business as more transparent, and feeling a sense of ownership.
One way of catering for social media is to embed your company social feeds (Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn) as a single page on your intranet. Externally Hosted Intranets: What’s The Hype?

I recently came across this issue on my <a href="http://archmerge.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Archmerge</a> installation and figured I would share the fix here since it took me quite some time to figure out the solution. This is not Archmerge specific but rather Arch Linux specific. I started encountering it on Manjaro and Arch based installs right after I tried to install specific packages.
This is what I was getting when trying to install a package that required fzf (in this case, I was running the command:
<code>packer -S pacli </code>
Since this package relied on the fzf package, I got the following error:
<code>error: fzf: signature from "Ambrevar &lt;ambrevar@gmail.com&gt;" is unknown trust :: File /var/cache/pacman/pkg/fzf-0.17.0.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz is corrupted (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature)).</code>
The solution took me a while to figure out, as mentioned, but I did figure it out eventually. To resolve, launch a terminal and paste in the following:
<code>sudo pacman-key --refresh-keys</code>
This will take a while to refresh all of the keys on your system but once it's complete, you should be good to go.

How to fix invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature) issues on Arch Linux

Ubuntu Budgie 17.10 was released yesterday and being a fan of the Budgie desktop (it's not my daily driver but I do love the work they are doing) I wanted to take it for a spin. Here's my Ubuntu Budgie 17.10 review after spending 24 hours with the system. I'll update this as time continues if any issues arise.
Installation is as straight forward as it ever was and went off without a hitch. My test machine is an Asus UX330U laptop, which suffers through my distro hopping addiction right along with me. Upon bootup, you are greeted with the Budgie Welcome screen and the default desktop.

This welcome screen walks you through the process of updating your system and getting everything ready. Just click on Getting Started and follow the steps.

Once completed, you can close the Welcome screen and begin exploring the desktop.

Budgie uses <a href="https://launchpad.net/plank" target="_blank">Plank</a> for the icon dock you see on the left. It's easy to customize and you will find a Plank Preferences application in the menus with which you can modify the icon theme, position, etc.
The drop-down menu in the top left contains all of your software and options in well categorized sub-menus.

Clicking on the far top right icon expands the Budgie panel which is a key feature of this desktop environment.

The first tab contains information from the activated applets. In this case, the calendar and sound controls by default. There are, however, other applets which you can install from third parties. The second tab, notifications, does what it sounds like. It contains your notifications. Speaking of which, I was quite impressed to see that this new release auto-detected my network printer and made it available, giving me yet another reason not to use my Mac or Windows machines.

There are also three icons at the bottom which allow you to access panel settings, lock your screen or access power options. Clicking the “gear” icon will take you to the Budgie Preferences application, which allows you to customize a few things about the desktop.

From here, you can also create new panels as well as customize the existing one.

To access your full settings, you will need to launch the separate Settings application from your menu. This will be where you customize everything else.

Ubuntu Budgie 17.10 also comes with a much better terminal application than the default most are use to with Tilix. It's a very easy to use and customizable terminal application that allows for multiple split screens and many other options. By default, there's also a drop-down “Quake style” version of Tilix you can access by hitting your F12 key. Here's a look at Tilix with three terminal sessions in one.

I did encounter an occasional crash, however, which I reported using the bug reporting tool. In my case, it was Nautilus that was misbehaving. Hopefully this can be cleared up with a future update. I'm impressed with the speed and overall progress the Ubuntu Budgie team has made on this variant. Budgie is definitely a stunning desktop environment and it's coming along nicely. It's great to see more applets being included from third party developers. Let's hope the trend continues.
